Are the installers different on a PC? On a Mac, all I do is launch the IK Product Manager and install from there. One button. Done. Then I open the IK folder with the downloaded files and copy them to an external drive. Seems pretty simple on my end.

Same on PC. I can also easily change, for each product, the installation path, if needed.

I think the original post might have been made prior to product manager being able to do the install seamlessly. The the thread was necroed by people who have other problems with ST4 or IK

Yes. There is a product manager now and it works fine here. Though, you still are recommended to download those sound content zip files and back them up somewhere as you will lose access to them at some point.ShawnG wrote: Thu Dec 30, 2021 1:43 pm I think the original post might have been made prior to product manager being able to do the install seamlessly. No, it doesn't.ShawnG wrote: Thu Dec 30, 2021 1:43 pm I think the original post might have been made prior to product manager being able to do the install seamlessly. The the thread was necroed by people who have other problems with ST4 or IK
Some of the older libs that are a part of ST4 max get installed at their default location no matter what you do.

This right here describes the general gestalt of IK. I can’t think of one other developer that deploys this kind of blatant cash grab for getting at the samples you paid for. Can you imagine the shitstorm that would happen if NI tried that stunt?Danilo Villanova wrote: Thu Dec 30, 2021 10:13 am The fact that they charge to re-download your sample content is the tackest sh*t I’ve EVER seen from a company. That’s some gh*etto a** level sh*t right there.

My main tools: Kontakt, Omnisphere, Samplemodeling + Audio Modeling. Unify = godsend. Tari's libraries also rock.

Yes, I recently had to buy their dumb re-download token and it did install easier now with their manager thing. I still hate that I had to pay them again after that whole process, but whatever.ShawnG wrote: Thu Dec 30, 2021 1:43 pm I think the original post might have been made prior to product manager being able to do the install seamlessly. The worst part is, I find pretty much all the sounds to be pretty bad in Sampletank 4 vs Kontakt. So I will probably just end up deleting it all anyways. Maybe others know something about Sampletank that is truly amazing that I am missing?

I have to concur. I see people with tech experience running into complicated issues, even in 2022. For me even though I used the same install location, when it came time to extract the content, it was zipped differently depending on which time era it came from. So when unzipping it you'd need to be a mind reader to know what the intended file structure was. Hopefully they will figure out that they're not being as straightforward as they think. I can hardly think in the last few years of any other major music software company that has not become seamless in their installations.soulata wrote: Thu Dec 30, 2021 2:43 pmNo, it doesn't.ShawnG wrote: Thu Dec 30, 2021 1:43 pm I think the original post might have been made prior to product manager being able to do the install seamlessly. I thought this was a joke when I read it in another thread. How much do they charge you to re-download a product you paid for?Weasel-Boy wrote: Thu Dec 30, 2021 9:02 pmThis right here describes the general gestalt of IK.
