I didn't like Rand that much, but actually I'm pondering to take my prize of that round for a spin. But alas, that's already two synths to choose from, Synthmaster and Synthmaster One. The former more versatile, the latter more straight forward.
And then there's also Proclethya, which was a give-away last summer... Arrrgh! Decision-paralysis.
The main problem with this train of thought is, that even when the synth is set in stone, I need about 30 days to noodle around aimlessly, and then brute-force a track in a day or a half.IV! wrote: Sun Jan 02, 2022 12:59 am The plan is as follows: 30 days to choose a synthesizer / 1 day per track in the "deadline" mode!![]()
But thanks, both of you, anyway...
Cheers

IV! wrote: Sun Jan 02, 2022 12:10 pm So, what about HG Fortune synthesizersThey use banks of sf2 samples, in which various complex synthesized sounds are recorded. The principle is similar to K1v, but unlike it, much more synthesis and modulation takes place inside HGF synths.
I just don't want to make a track and then find out that someone is against it![]()
Are they all capable of loading custom sf2-files, or are the samples hard-coded? If they are hard-coded, I would rather consider it a wavetable synth, where the accepted rule would be factory wave-tables are okay, external wave-tables/samples are no-no. Like in the Vital-round. (Hmmm, Vital, another synth to consider this round... Damnit!)

Right, so many choices. I'm looking at Vital for the text to wavetable, I never took advantage of that feature in the round where we used it.

I was joking there, because you just absolutely described my workflow exactly!)SeBaer wrote: Sun Jan 02, 2022 2:58 pm

So, I can upload any sf2 in, but I wouldn't do it within the framework of OSC. I would only use a standard bank, which has no sounds that could not be synthesized with a good synthesizer.SeBaer wrote: Sun Jan 02, 2022 3:10 pm Are they all capable of loading custom sf2-files, or are the samples hard-coded? Yeah, why do you think I uploaded my track on the last day half an hour to midnight local time? Exactly that's whyIV! wrote: Sun Jan 02, 2022 3:36 pmI was joking there, because you just absolutely described my workflow exactly!)SeBaer wrote: Sun Jan 02, 2022 2:58 pm

Hi, Aro! Find your one:Aro wrote: Sun Jan 02, 2022 3:52 pm I had the ambition to make a chiptune this month. So since I can choose any vst for such a production, any suggestions for free?

I love when the thread goes to the 2nd page so I don't have to scroll past the huge OP to read people's posts.
I'd absolutely go with Odin 2 if it were me.Aro wrote: Sun Jan 02, 2022 3:52 pm I had the ambition to make a chiptune this month. So since I can choose any vst for such a production, any suggestions for free?

Damnit, another great choice, not just for chiptune. And then there's a whole plethora of great synths in the 'computer music' collection. Decision-paralysis intensifies

Yeaaa, this is one of the most pleasant to work and sound free synthesizer! On my track with him from the effects there was only Oril River on the master, because Odin II sounds great on its own!SeBaer wrote: Sun Jan 02, 2022 5:01 pmDamnit, another great choice, not just for chiptune. But I don't have any open topics with him yet) And if there are no fierce objections, then I will most likely go with one of the HGF.
