ZincT wrote: Sun Jan 02, 2022 12:24 pmI was able to route the MIDI from Wotja to Kontakt in Cakewalk.
I would like to know how you did this.
- Drag a Wotja instrument onto a blank track area to create a Wotja instrument track
- Load Play Me 22 into Wotja
- Drag a Kontakt instrument onto a blank area to create a Kontakt instrument track (& enable note echo)
- Load an instrument into Kontakt (I used Alicia's Keys)

Hit play on the Cakewalk transport and anything from Wotja Midi Ch 1 will be sent to Kontakt Ch 1.
Some of the notes are Conga/Tamburine and others are Tampura drone and lead so might not make sense depending on what instrument you choose in Kontakt. You could also change the MIDI channel in Wotja for each instrument. I'll see if there's a better demo for playing external instruments via MIDI.

I am seeing that UI glitch quite often now in Cakewalk and of course keep hitting the Lite timeout. UPDATE: Actually it's worse with Kontakt loaded; almost unusable I'd say. Tried something simpler than Kontakt (Cherry DCO-106) and had the same problems. :( It's like Wotja's taking priority over Cakewalk/other instruments even though the CPU load seems ok when this happens.
Thanks much, will try in Cakewalk too.

Do the templates always produce randomly generated notes?
Does Wotja always produce randomly generated notes?
Are "chords" always random?
Are there predefined chordal structures which are fed "random" notes?

I'm not getting any sound out of Templates>BP21 Drones 1>Allowed 5th or Piper.

All templates from TTM1 Players 2 continue to play even after Bitwig and Wotja are stopped even after switching to the next category. This must be a general bug since the sound won't stop after playing one or two presets from the next category (unless I'm doing something "wrong.")

Hi,
Any chance the early bird discount could be extended until the windows version is fixed to be more useable?

I really want to get this, but have not been able to test it properly. I am getting a lot of issues (VST3 hosting is hit and miss) and I can make it lock up my Windows 11 system quite easily by simply clicking around and trying things randomly without knowing what I am doing. The UI is confusing, so "just trying stuff" often leads to a system lock (in Live 11) and I have had to reboot Windows several times while "experimenting".

Hi! In the current version, there is a "Rescan" button in the top of the Plug-in Browser window.

Best wishes, Pete
Hi. I am not seeing the "Rescan" button. Maybe I am not looking at the Plug-in Browser window. How do I get to the Plug-in Browser window?

I can confirm this; there is no midi out and no audio out at any sample rate except 44.1KHz. But As soon as I set the sample rate to 44.1KHz both audio and midi are generated.

If you open any mix the plugin "browser" is the little "+ plugins" icon in the menue bar below.

Then the menue above shows "hosted plugins", the chains predefined in wotja (I dont really get how they work/should work in detail, one of the many disadvantages of this pre-/early-/beta whatever version is that there is nearly no documentation for the new stuff so far, on the other hand, as so many things are unclear for now, like the scanning.....).

If you click on the "refresh/acualize" button on the left of the above menue it should start a rescan.

O.k., after changing the sample rate "something" is happening inside mixcraft......but as long as the transport bar dont work on wotja and the kontakt gui freezes......(sorry Pete, but this has nothing to do with mixcraft or whatever, thousands of plugins work inside mixcraft with no problem, and should I mention kontakt ? I mean if this is not been tested intensively with the NI top product.....sorry again, this is at best a beta on win 10 at least).

Thanks! So I was at the right place but was looking for the word "refresh". Did not think to try clicking on the rescan icon. I thought that would just refresh the page.

same here, since that symbol is used for refresh almost everywhere else I have ever seen it.

the use of non-standard GUI elements makes this a very confusing experience for newbies. another example is the icon used for randomization. a sparkler wand? huh?

i saw another post in which it was suggested that "hints" could be used when hovering over GUI elements. that would certainly help.

Even without the new vst plugin hosting it is an extremly complex kind of "modular" composing environment with an endless learning curve (after failing for a dozen times even to make a start I scratched the surface two years ago with took some month with great support from intermorphic I had to admit).

And the whole archtitecture/gui is (like Rapid composer maybe) very "unique". I dont know if it might be easier if you come from the apple background but for windows there is nothing structured even in the same direction. Or it is that unique maybe cause the basics of this started 20 years or more ago.

On the other hand they try to improve continously a level of "hit one button two make a randomn song". But even there you have to find the button

But this basic level could be reached in time.

But wont help you much if you are in here and trying to use it as vst/with vst plugins I am afraid.

@impete

Hi! Thanks for your comments.

I think I probably need to point you here:

https://intermorphic.com/wotja/learn/

We keep putting a lot of effort into helping people learn how to use Wotja. We appreciate is isn't a 'normal' app workflow - but then Wotja isn't a 'normal' app :) and we're trying to do things differently. And of course, as you say, we have a 30+ year perspective on how the app needs to work.

Best wishes, Pete

Hi, thanks for making the suggestion.

I think your suggestion is very reasonable!

So, Tim and I have decided that while we try to resolve some of these initial issues on Windows, mainly related to VST scanning, we will extend it a week at a time. Once we think we're good, we'll revert to the 'normal' pricing.

With very best wishes, Pete
