It looks promising.
I also like that they're testing with the motherboard I'm thinking of getting.

I’m on a 5950x here. The scores are very interesting and the research is greatly appreciated. For my workflow I’m probably still optimal, for my audio pal who is waiting until January I think the Intel build is a better choice given his reliance on Kontakt.

I would love to see the windows 10 results for low latency comparisons,

That would be interesting but probably a lot of work.

I'd love to see someone do some tests using Ableton Live 11 too. I get whey they're using Reaper but that doesn't prove how well a certain processor works in the software I would rather use. It doesn't need to be such detailed benchmarking, just a test to see how small they can make the buffers and still get good performance and if all the cores are being used correctly.

Would it be possible for them to include last generation Ryzen (3000) and Intel (11000) in the charts? Maybe even a few other older ones to help gauge performance improvements over generations (which would help in determining if an upgrade is worthwhile or not).

How significant is the unexpected development of Intel dumping AVX 512 in the Gen 12 CPUs for the plugin world? Plugins like IK MODO drums demand AVX instructions but will work with anything since Sandy Bridge. Have any developers used AVX 512?

Post

Some plug-ins uses AVX-512 like Melda, 2CAudio, I guess Acoustica Audio Acqua
and probably others...
I am just the messenger, not the plug-in developer.
Ask the plug-in developer what is the performance difference between
AVX2 and AVX-512.

Post

I gather that Intel has dumped AVX-512 to remain competitive on power/speed with AMD. The AVX-512 pushed up the power envelope too much for their purposes. This must drive developers a little crazy - these guys have gone with Intel's approach and implemented these instructions as they were encouraged to do.

Here's the CEOs presentation (virtual) for CES today. It covers all the main points on what these new gen chips/platforms will bring.

Interesting that the new X3D seems confined to just the 5800 with no indication we'll see an enhanced 5950x. I was thinking that perhaps there would be one more iteration for AM4 for me beyond the 5950x but that doesn't appear to be in the cards.

I thought those were in Cubase with a different project right? So they don't correlate to the new Dawbench. They need to redo the test with the old processors in the new dawbench (in Reaper) to get comparable values.
