I finally broke down and bought it,while the current sale is still going on.
I've liked it since it first came out, have thought about getting it many times,
and figured I like it enough that I should give them a little bit of support.

Not the latest and greatest, but I still haven't run across much that sounds better to me.
Off to play.

Great choice! :)

Oldie but a goodie.

And one of the few oldies that has a nice big interface for high dpi.

I picked up impOSCar2 as well, along with OBE and VSM. And I wrote this with them almost immediately! Very inspiring instruments!

I have the dedicated midi controller for imposcar 2. Massive bit of furniture!
I'm tired of being insane. I'm going outsane for some fresh air.

Seriously?! I remember there being one. It was gorgeous. 8)
I'm not a musician, but I've designed sounds that others use to make music. http://soundcloud.com/obsidiananvil

yes, seriously. it is gorgeous. Very heavy and very large. Too large to become your primary midi controller (unless you limit yourself to Imposcar 2). It's probably bigger than an actual Imposcar synth.

I love impOSCar 2, but I feel it’s just a tiny bit away from being amazing. I wish the filter and drive were just a tad more wild sounding. I wish they’d ditch the faux 3D UI and make a resizable flat UI. Most of all, I’d love if they’d add a couple of MSEGs and let you set up key-frames where you can go between partial series, kind of like you can in MPowersynth.

As an OSCAR owner I can tell you... no. The UI is how it should be. Plus there's no perspective on the knobs so it is pretty flat (thank the lord as the real knobs are pretty tall). The filter sounds like it should.

I don't even know what any of that means.

i hope oddity and minimonsta will also receive bigger gui at some point.

I'm normally a feature hound, and while I admit there are a few things that could be added,
I like the basic sound of this one so much that I'm happy with it just as it is.

From your wish list, it sounds like you might like Synclavier V.
It's got most of that except for the filter part.

I’m not saying that I’m unhappy with it. I’m just saying that a few extra touches could really hit a new level. The basic sound is great. I do love Synclavier V too, but it’s obviously a totally different deal. I’m not short on additive synths, I’m just imagining what impOSCar could do if it was a bit more flexible than just creating a static wave.

Yep - that one perfect synth that has everything.
I think that might be different for every person though, depending on what's important for them.

On sale for $39 for a few days at audiodeals. Thinking about getting it.
