Should I upgrade from SX (1) to SX3 for Christmas?

I am doing pretty well with Cubase SX 1.06 now, things are reasonably stable and sound all right. I am contemplating the purchase of an upgrade for my Christmas present--freeze, new editing options, Monologue/Embracer/Tonic look good, MIDI drag-and-drop, etc. I guess my only real reservation is the stability of SX3 at this time, since it took me so long to get SX(1) working right. Should I get it for Christmas, or wait until my birthday in April?

it has only crashed on me with VST plugs.
never just doing audio editing or etc.
any system that allows external 'plug-ins' is looking for trouble.
IMO i liked SX1 better then 2
now i like 3 better then 2.

hi,
we're using sx3 for a couple of weeks now - it's running fine. we updated from sx2.
you should make sure that you always have the latest syncrosoft software installed, as an older version caused serious problems on our machine.
btw: after updating, you can still legally use your 1.06 if you install sx3 into a different folder, so there's virtually no risk

If you use VSTi's a lot, the new and faster Freeze alone will change radically you method of working. At least, that was my particular case.
BTW, SX3 is working nicely here for two weeks, no crashes at all, just some minor annoyances which will hopefully disappear with the 3.01 update, promised for this week.

ditto for all the priase here - no unexpected crashes - there are some bugs but no show stoppers and most of them will be fixed by the time the product arrives with you
freeze is great
the instruments are good, but not spectacular
arpache sx is lovely
play order tracks are .. interesting (an acquired taste maybe)

For me personally, the main reasons for upgrading to 3 are...
Plug in delay compensation and much much better integration with external
instruments and effects(Also with delay compensation).
I also feel a lot of the biggest improvements are not really the extra's offered and touted in the ad's but the smaller "workflow" improvements which go unnoticed by many but can really decrease the amount of windows used and button pushing involved in more general tasks.

I don't have anything against gravity but it really does weigh me down

April! By then you'll probably be able to buy SX4. The way things are going, SX3.01 may actually be SX4.Should I get it for Christmas, or wait until my birthday in April?

I say go for it... It's a nice update, really.
