Yes. And when I do the original dialogue box is still there where you name the template. The second dialogue box that pops-up just confirms that the new template was saved and has an OK button. Both were behind the main UI. I was a little surprised to see the first one still open.ZincT wrote: Tue Jan 04, 2022 9:54 pm @UncleAge When the dialog box is opening behind the UI, can you use Alt-Tab so that you can then gain access to it?
Thanks for the tip

Oh, there’s a VST version? Now I’m interested.El°HYM wrote: Sat Jan 01, 2022 10:44 pm The standalone seems to figure it out by itself.
The VST3 - Version becomes silent when switching the samplerate higher and no Settings to change in Wotja then. Might check that out tomorrow though, as its getting late. Will get back at you if the Issue persists.

I just tried "Export cell to template" myself and I get the first dialog box where you enter the name on top but the second confirmation box behind the main UI. This happens on both the plugin and standalone version.UncleAge wrote: Wed Jan 05, 2022 12:45 amYes. And when I do the original dialogue box is still there where you name the template. Thanks folks. That "alert behind the main UI" is quite annoying; I think it is a JUCE bug that I need to track down.ZincT wrote: Wed Jan 05, 2022 8:01 am I just tried "Export cell to template" myself and I get the first dialog box where you enter the name on top but the second confirmation box behind the main UI. In the interim, I realised this morning that my best route (in lieu of having access to a crashing ‘real’ plug-ins) is to create my *own* custom plug-in for Windows, that will crash on registration in various ways as an interim measure.
So, I’ve now created that and am using this for a test-bed..!
Best wishes, Pete

Hi! Yes, Wotja 22 adds two major things for Windows:
- app with VST3 plug-in hosting
- a separate VST3 plug-in (that comes bundled with the app - install it using the Help... menu)
We've not had any sort of VST plug-in since back in the days of Noatikl and Mixtikl - so this is a very big thing for us this year!
Best wishes, Pete

Wow. I did't even know that was an option!!zzz00m wrote: Tue Jan 04, 2022 10:27 pm Then I reset Reaper to the default factory configuration. That did the trick! Still scratching my head, but at least it's a win!
We've used Reaper for years for Windows plug-in testing. A really nice piece of software, and pretty well priced IMO.
Great stuff, Pete

Hi again folks!
So far as I'm aware, this is the list of VST3s that crash Wotja on scanning (currently). Have I missed anything?
Best wishes to all, Pete

- Antares AutoTune EFX
- Mastering the Mix Animate.
- Amplitube 4 (though Amplitube 5 is fine)
- Antares Harmony Engine (part of the AVOX 4 suite so other items in the suite might also crash Wotja)
- Soundspot Union v1.03 also crashed (though only reported for some users)
Best wishes to all, Pete

After testing the "export cell as template" scenario I realised that this had created a number of items on the Mixes screen which I wanted to delete.
After trying a few things (left clicking on the template just opens it, right clicking does nothing), I checked the documentation for how to delete a mix template. Under 6 it says to "Tap on this button (and/or right click in the Desktop version" but right clicking does nothing and left clicking just opens the template (on Windows 10).
Anyway, after a bit of experimenting, I discovered that if I "long left clicked" on the template then I got the action menu which includes the Delete option. By "long left click" I mean that I held down the left mouse button for a second or so.
Maybe the documentation could reflect this as a general statement for the Windows version (I suspect this is different to how the Mac version works; don't they have just one mouse button?).

NB: Amplitude 4 is no longer available, and I’ve asked Antares for access to a version for us to test against.

There's also:
- Antares Harmony Engine (part of the AVOX 4 suite so I guess all items in the suite might crash Wotja).
- Soundspot Union v1.03 also crashed although I think you said that it didn't crash for you (and I have uninstalled it now but I guess others might want to use it).

Regarding Amplitube 4 - v4.10.0 is available, if you own it, from your IKM account or through IKM Product Manager. I guess it might be used by some to add effects to the Wotja audio. Actually, I just checked, and Amplitube v3 is also still available although I don't have it installed (probably ignore that one)!
I know some folk haven't yet upgraded to v5 and prefer the UI on v4 (not me I have to say!). I still have v4 installed as I used it on some projects before v5 was available. I think some products like Band in a Box also come with v4.

@impete
in the stand-alone version there are problems with the following VST3 from various vendors (note they all scanned fine):
Native Instruments:
Kontakt and Massive load their GUIs, but are unresponsive. You cannot control the plug-ins from it's GUI, thus no instruments can be loaded in Kontakt, and no presets can be loaded in Massive.
Massive X does not show a full GUI (only a small upper left corner of the full plug).
Rob Papen:
GUIs are responsive, but have problems in that the preset name field is garbled when it is changed, and the waveform displays and other interactive elements are incomplete.
Roland Cloud:
all of the GUIs are shown as only the upper left corner of the full plug.
U-he:
Diva, Hive, etc. are shown as an empty window frame (window is drawn full size, but is empty (transparent)
Reason Studios:
The Reason Rack plugin does not seem to play sound.

Big changes coming in the next update!
IMPROVED: Host Plug-in scanning:
- Documents screen: rather than automatically starting a plug-in scan:
if you've not yet done a plug-in scan, you're prompted to do so
Title: "Scan for Hosted Plug-ins?"
Message: "You have not yet scanned for Hosted Plug-ins. Would you like to do this now?\n\nYou can scan at any time, by going to the Plug-ins screen, and press the top-left button to re-scan\n\nIf the plug-in scan closes Wotja, simply re-start Wotja; any failed plug-ins are listed in the Action menu on the Plug-ins screen."
Buttons: "Start Scan Now", "Ask Me Again Later", "Don't ask me again”
- Plug-ins screen (tab): when top-left button pressed,
we now display an alert before kicking-off the scan
Title: "Scan for Hosted Plug-ins?"
Message: "If the plug-in scan closes Wotja, simply re-start Wotja; any failed plug-ins are listed in the Action menu on this screen.";
Buttons: "Start Scan Now", “Cancel"
- Plug-ins screen (tab): if you have failed plug-ins, you see two menu items at top of menu:
"Show Failed Plug-ins: 1 failed" (or whatever the number is)
shows alert "The following plug-ins have failed while scanning:"
"Reset Failed Plug-ins, and Re-scan"
... these aren't show if there are no failed plug-ins
Verified on Windows with my home-made VST3 failing plug-in
Best wishes, Pete

@impete @JamminFool
Tried some of the plugins mentioned by JamminFool...
I created an empty mix and added an Ambient track (MIDI ch 1) and Generator+Repeater track (MIDI ch 2).
Then I went to plugins and added Kontakt. It seemed to take longer than usual for its UI to appear but when it did I was able to load Amadeus on Ch 1 and Alicia's keys on Ch 2. Then I played the mix and it played the instruments in Kontakt fine. Then when I went back to the Kontakt UI I got the same as JamminFool - UI unresponsive. Same with Massive.
Confirm the same issue with MassiveX as JF (tiny UI).
Tried the same with Rob Papen Predator 3 and Blade 2 - seemed to work OK. Will try some of their other synths.
U-He - Diva initially showed only about 3/4 of its UI then it resized to fit the window and worked ok. I was able to change presets from its UI. Same happened with Hive 2 apart from the UI which I had to manually change to about 90% size. Presets loaded and worked fine. Will try some other U-He after lunch (Zebra, Bazille, Repro).
Reason rack - will try after lunch (also haven't tried the DAW).
I no longer have Roland Cloud so cannot test that.
I noticed that the RAM usage was up around 7.6Gb with Kontakt loaded plus the instruments mentioned. I have 32Gb so not an issue but I guess if you have 8Gb it might be.
