The difference between the Boutique and the real one was obvious even watching it on the speakers on my iPad Mini. Quietly.
As was how good PG-8X is in comparison (he sighs, being a Mac user...)

It's disappointing that Roland didn't do a better job on the JX-08.
Mark me down as another supporter of an update to PG-8X. I've used it on many records and would really love to continue to use it on my M1 Pro. It would at least need to be released as AU so it could run through the AUCompatibility layer. Updating it to run as ARM native would obviously be much more ideal but I imagine that could take more time.

LOL at his dead grandmother analogy.

The dead grandmother analogy was a bit much for me but I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, the Roland ACB emulations are overrated (especially the Jupiter).

They did Jupiter better than Arturia, and neck to neck with TAL.

is TAL the best JP8 emu ? Big fan of TAL but have not tried it yet though. Been reading through the JP8 (TAL) forum and it seems people here really praise it. But yes, i really should demo TAL JP8 before i judge. Not that i would really because i know TAL is quality

It's excellent, and the only emulation which also emulates the bitimbrality of JP-8. But RC version is pretty great too.

Agreed but I didn't mind the smoother, filtered sound of the Boutique. I love my MKS-70 as a pad machine and that's about it, I don't find it's crystal-clear sound to be good for much else.beely wrote: Thu Jan 06, 2022 9:11 pm The difference between the Boutique and the real one was obvious even watching it on the speakers on my iPad Mini. I've got all 3, have owned a System-8 for years and have a ton of experience with ACB Jupiter. I place the Roland at the bottom of the list. By far. TAL is an amazing synth - sounds great pretty much all the time - huge sweet spot - great filters - can be punchy and big, the Arturia is nice, Diva's Jupiter is great too (in it's "Diva not being a full 1:1 emulation like Repro is" kind of way), and finally the Roland sounds lifeless, flat, and has weak filters.EvilDragon wrote: Sat Jan 08, 2022 7:59 pm They did Jupiter better than Arturia, and neck to neck with TAL.

TAL is the king of accuracy. So thorough, I don't even bother looking at alternatives to any synth he models.EvilDragon wrote: Sat Jan 08, 2022 7:59 pm They did Jupiter better than Arturia, and neck to neck with TAL.

A System 8 desktop module is something I would be interested in for a D50 Plugout because I will never touch the Roland Cloud DRM. I think the ACB on the TR-09 is good and TR-8s is a great versatile drum machine.Funkybot's Evil Twin wrote: Sun Jan 09, 2022 2:58 amI've got all 3, have owned a System-8 for years and have a ton of experience with ACB Jupiter. You can't plug out the D-50 to the System-8. Only the Roland ACB analog synths. You can just get the D-50 boutique.electro wrote: Sun Jan 09, 2022 10:07 amA System 8 desktop module is something I would be interested in for a D50 Plugout because I will never touch the Roland Cloud DRM.
