Markus, what do you mean by "soft saturation"? A modest amount of harmonic distortion due to imprecise waveform rendering, maybe? If so, does that imprecision vary over time?Markus Krause wrote: Fri Jan 07, 2022 4:33 pm This is what really defines analog sound (you can switch most of this on/off in the Config menu of Saurus3:
- Filter with self-oscillation
- slight oscillator-drift
- slight instabilities
- Soft saturation
- Damping of frequencies over 8Khz in the OSCs
- a little noise
- no aliasing
- filters are slightly 'off-tune'

massive X or bazille , can cover digital as well
i swear on some patchs bazille is the closest thing to great analog sound that i have but also reaktor vcv and more can give really good ones.
massive X or bazille might be suprising but i can cover way more analog sounds than with a sh101 or pro one emu, might not be as great or with vintage caractere but still great

The other techniques were familiar to me, but this took me by surprise. The more I think about it, the less sense it makes. There are multiple points in the signal path where synths like Diva have to model saturation. Pre-faking it with a wavetable technique could reduce the CPU hit, but would surely sound wrong on patches with multiple oscillators. I think I must have misunderstood something. Can you explain further?Markus Krause wrote: Fri Jan 07, 2022 4:33 pm - F0 partial of a pre-rendered sawwave that is stored in a lookup-table is over-attenuated to simulate saturation on the OSC and make it sound more 'warm' (DIVA and many analog emulations do this)
I hate signatures too.

Ok, I'd like to hear something similar coming from a vst that happens from 6:48-7:12 in this video:

The presets are generally a tad bright and modern sounding if that's what you mean, there are a few vintage presets sounding really authentic in between though, and if you tweak it yourself the synth is quite capable of making really nice and convincing vintage soundssyntonica wrote: Fri Jan 07, 2022 5:37 pmOn a side note, I really like Saurus3 as it sounds quite analog and all the controls are right there. However, it's too modern sounding for my taste

Probably Repro-5 thanks to its distortion section. You can do crazy things with that. From gentle saturation to over-the-top wubwubs.

I would put Diva first as it has a broader set of sounds.pdxindy wrote: Thu Jan 06, 2022 1:54 pm Half the answers are synths that aren't even an emulation of analog.
If I could only have one analog emulation, it would be RePro... with Diva being a close second.
Repro is good, but more limited.

Yes, I'm also torn between those two. Diva or Repro._leras wrote: Sat Jan 08, 2022 9:33 amI would put Diva first as it has a broader set of sounds.pdxindy wrote: Thu Jan 06, 2022 1:54 pm Half the answers are synths that aren't even an emulation of analog.

I was contemplating about getting Model 84 for $79 (with code POLYPHONIC50), but I was a bit too late to act on it. Well, hopefully a better deal awaits me next time.
