Adobe is the only software subscription I have, and that’s paid for by our photography side gig. I don’t see any benefit for myself in paying a subscription fee to use plugins. As for SSL, their plugins go on sale for dirt cheap pretty regularly, so I don’t understand their sales/subscription model at all.

The only one I had was Roland Cloud but I recently cancelled it. It was ok except sometimes the RCM would act up a bit.

Netflix and Spotify.
For plugins where I use the same ones year after year, paying endlessly makes no sense.

Take a single oscillator, producing a drone. Send it to the wave shaper, altering the tone.
This can be a triangle, Sawtooth or a square. Modulate the pulse width, nobody will care

Limiting this to music subs...Roland Cloud has a lot of instruments, but frankly, there's better stuff out there IMO. Particularly when it comes to analog models. But if you were just starting out, I could see someone getting a decent amount of mileage out of that.
When it comes to FX, I'm probably biased, but I think just about everything Kush puts out is excellent. At least for compressors, EQs, and saturators. And they regularly release new plugins and keep things up to date. Plugin Alliance also has a huge catalog. Sure, you can buy most of their plugins for less than $30 if you just wait, but again, if just starting out, there's a lot there (not as consistently great as Kush though covers a lot more ground).

I should say XBox Game Pass is a great value.
