You don't have a reverb VST you could use instead?

Correct Bones. I don't have any other reverbs on my computer. Not one single reverb. Not even in Ableton Live!
Here's the thing. Some users like to have quality effects in their synths. Some don't care. As a sound designer, I like having effects, since you can do all sorts of funny things when creating sounds. Like turning up the wetness all the way to the max, creating a pad/drone with a completely different texture compared with a dry sound. And if the reverb is well made, you might even be able to modulate the effect parameters without artefacts, thus creating - in the case of a reverb - very interesting modulations.
You and I had similar discussions about this topic before. Some people like their synths to be as dry as possible. Some people like to have integrated effects that is a part of the actual preset. I am one of the latter.
But back to the Softube emulation. Sounds like a cracking good plugin. Weirdly enough, while some people seem to be a bit disappointed in the Cherry one, I think it's a cool synth in its own right. I really like the way the self-oscillating filter sounds like in tracked mode - creating a very nice sine-ish tone. But if were to pick between the Cherry Juno and the Arturia - I would pick the Arturia in a second. That one has quickly become one of my favourite synths. Bloody great sound

You are not a sound designer, you're somebody who makes patches for synths. i.e. You do scut work the rest of us can't be arsed to do. A sound designer is someone who works in film and TV and I am reasonably sure you would not qualify for that job. And people who make presets for synths should not be the ones deciding what is and is not important to have in a synth. In fact, they are the last people I'd be asking. (Sorry, but you brought it up.)

Sound design is the art and practice of creating sound tracks for a variety of needs. It involves specifying, acquiring or creating auditory elements using audio production techniques and tools. It is employed in a variety of disciplines including filmmaking, television production, video game development, theatre, sound recording and reproduction, live performance, sound art, post-production, radio and musical instrument development. Sound design commonly involves performing (see e.g. foley) and editing of previously composed or recorded audio, such as sound effects and dialogue for the purposes of the medium, but it can also involve creating sounds from scratch through synthesizers. A sound designer is one who practices sound design.
You asked me if I don't have a reverb VSTs and I explained why I prefer to have it integrated in a synth = because it opens up for interesting aspects in sound design. I know people who like having lots of advanced effect chains associated with their presets. And some switch off the chains immediately.
Never said one was better than the other. Just said what I like about the Arturia Juno.
It's a personal preference thing.

As much as I hate iLok too, mainly for the high license transfer fees, I really feel that Model 84/72 are NOT worth ignoring for this reason. It does not need the dongle and can use machine authorization, so not really an issue.Echoes in the Attic wrote: Wed Apr 21, 2021 10:40 pm I should not have started watching the videos before checking the copy protection.
Sounds great, but ilok only. Nope.

Funny you should say this because I caved and bought this, along with Model 72 and Modular with the holiday deals! I just had a bad experience where I couldn't access the ilok software for a while and nobody would help me. Ah well, I let it go.LoveEnigma18 wrote: Sun Jan 09, 2022 1:45 pmAs much as I hate iLok too, mainly for the high license transfer fees, I really feel that Model 84/72 are NOT worth ignoring for this reason. I can relate with you. Even I had decided to avoid iLok based plugins, but these two are definitely worth it. I will wait for the next sale for my turn. That said, installation and activation of the (demo) plugins was an easy process for me.Echoes in the Attic wrote: Sun Jan 09, 2022 4:44 pmFunny you should say this because I caved and bought this, along with Model 72 and Modular with the holiday deals! I demoed Repro, Diva, TAL plugins "briefly" along with Model 84, but Model 84 just knocks them out of the park "for me" for 3 reasons:
- Sound quality, top notch, and of the type I liked better in comparison
- Simplicity, ease of use
- GUI, pleasure to work with
- Inspiring, actual use in music production
As chk071 said, quite a few iLok based plugins are just the best out there. Even though I have Monark, I am tempted to get Model 72 now.

The one thing that's strange about model 84 is that when you open the panel with extra settings (velocity modulation etc), the left side of the screen just barely cuts off of a bit of the last faders and text. You can still use them but you can't see all of it. Seems like a bug. Otherwise a horrendous design choice. It would have taken only a tinny bit of extra UI space to keep all controls tidy in view. What the hell.

I agree. I felt there is something wrong for me when I saw that and had to look at a video to confirm it. The GUI scaling is buggy in FL Studio and the overall UX leaves a lot to be desired.
I really hope Softube fixes these things, but I am not sure how their updates and support is.

lol.. believe it or not (unless I am misunderstanding you) it is a design choice.Echoes in the Attic wrote: Sun Jan 09, 2022 5:23 pm The one thing that's strange about model 84 is that when you open the panel with extra settings (velocity modulation etc), the left side of the screen just barely cuts off of a bit of the last faders and text. Yeah that's what I meant. Thy didn't have a few extra pixels no the side to show all controls? They barely cut it off.
WTF.
WTF.
