Perhaps for you - which is absolutely fine.OrionAlpha101 wrote: Sat Jan 08, 2022 4:27 pm It is crazy the Access Virus free in your DAW?
Ok the sound is not so special only the arp and seq sounds where new at this time.
The quality of today plugins is another level that's for sure but now you can compare the beginning of virtual analog synthesizer sounds and the truth that you don't need a Virus that's just hype.
Maybe on your computer. It's been running just fine here. Virus C rom, uses 4% of my CPU even though it's loaded and running in a layer (emulator)OrionAlpha101 wrote: Sat Jan 08, 2022 4:27 pm The sound of the Virus ABC is used up and the cpu spikes are terrifying you need 4Ghz.
Something is wrong with the resonance many distortion and reverb problems like you missing a limiter.
That is obvious, everyone knows that. I think you're missing the point entirely.OrionAlpha101 wrote: Sat Jan 08, 2022 4:27 pm The project is cool but this Motorola synthesizer are in the past.

This emulator sounds like pain dosen't matter how many cpu you have.
Maybe there is missing something that the hardware output do to the sound.

Well you are now drifting in story a bit, but like I said it's your personal interpretation.OrionAlpha101 wrote: Mon Jan 10, 2022 7:55 am This emulator sounds like pain dosen't matter how many cpu you have.

Now it's clear you are missing the point of the emulator let alone the sound of Virus. It's perfectly fine to not like it.
Though I don't think anyone will spend the time to explain to you why in their little world this emulator project seems more than a nice gesture and effort with real practical value. If you expect that someone will invest time to do that for you or if you continue to think people who like this project are putsomenamehere then what do you do in this thread anyway?

When I received my original Virus I also was a bit disappointed about the sound. Maybe because it was so overhyped back in the days and I simply expected more.
I own the original Virus C and have also tested the emulator. They sound identical to my ears. I can confirm that this emulation is extremely accurate. Far more accurate than any other 'Virus emulation'.

Well, it would be surprising if it didn't sound like the Virus, because it IS the Virus running on an emulator of the underlying DSP chips (not a Virus emulation).
I don't know what OrionAlpha01 up there is chittering about. First he says that this is badly coded, then it sounds like shit. What's next?

In our case, the sound is 100% identical as there are no "unknown" things with regards to the DSP chip. Everything is well documented by Motorola (later Freescale, even later NXP) and we verified all instructions against the Motorola DSP simulator and created many unit tests.Markus Krause wrote: Mon Jan 10, 2022 10:24 am...under the premise that the emulator works 100% flawlessly. This was not always the case though

What is not 100% identical is the micro controller as we did not low-level emulate that. However, the microcontroller only does things like driving the LCD, LEDs and preset management. So what might not be 100% correct is the MIDI SysEx implementation, but we constantly improve here to match the hardware.

I did test the Emulator but i must admit that i like the sound of the Tone 2 and Reveal Audio more than the Virus.
They are not 100% exact in sound but close enough for me and i find i like a few simmilar sounds over the Virus sound.
It is a great Idea and i wish the team best of luck and i know remember why i sold my Virus C after buying these vst's.

to me these are no emulation of the virus except viper , virus raw sound is not really great imo but when in a sweet spot sometimes there is no alternative if it s the caractere suited
for example the fm seems not great but i made some of my favorite fm leads with it but sweet spots of everyhting is very small, i couldn t make them back with the emu yet .. in some sweet spots the virus can be unbeatable ( cause of the cractere if it s suited ) but you have to know it very well.

I think the Effects section in the virus is remarkably good sounding. But waveform generation sounds very clean, too. Now only a bit better GUI Still is missing. It would already help, if the parameters were at least grouped into pages/tabs. A scrolling list with a ton of parameters is better than nothing, still not really user friendly.

it s definelty the kind of synth that get a big boost of sounding better with good fxs but it could be my programing skill lacking also.
i wonder if some synth are more enhanced with fx than other.. it seems virus can get in a other dimension with fx
