If I select Marshall: Amp Room Edition whilst logged in, it shows me all the amps and cabs available in the bundle, and also shows what I've already bought: everything except the JMP 2203 (which was €59 in the sale, now back up to €99).

As I'm logged in I get a, "See your upgrade price" button. I click on it and I see €178. I can still scroll though the included items and as far as I can tell the 2203 is the only missing component. I can see the amp at €99 whilst looking at the €178 upgrade price on the same page ffs! I may even just write to them to see if they can explain it, as I don't see the advantage of the bundle price at all.

Just chatted with Softube and they confirm that the bundle prices don't update to reflect cases like mine where you own almost everything. Apparently they're looking into it, so maybe hang tight before getting any bundles.

You might have cost me with Fuse Audio Labs... (in a good way

Getting into VSTs is a very recent thing for me, but it's horrendously addictive, like a kid in a candy shop). I just read up that it's the same developer, Reimund, as for Black Rooster - can only mean good things, I've used the Black Rooster plugins more than any others since I bought them (again, recently - and ironically, they were some of the cheapest!).

The fuse audio main developer did (almost) all the Black Rooster plugins in the first years.
Also did many (some of the best) plugins of Plugin Alliance (like BlackBox, Elysia Phil's Cascade, new NEOLD stuff, ACME comp etc.)

Didn't see your original post on it, but is it that you want to purchase Volume 5 and have most of it, but the discount is minimal?
If so, they told me from Volume 1, they 'were looking into it'.

For my part, I had already bought a bunch of the plugins that form part of the collection, separately. And less than a month ago.
Specifically:

Someone who has never bought anything could get the collection for 449€ (in the sale)
Someone who had only purchased Summit (I don't know for any of the other plugins, their website decided Summit was the one that would be used to upgrade to the collection), could upgrade to the collection for 299€
Someone such as me, who had purchased Summit, and also a bunch of other plugins that are already in the collection, is offered the same upgrade price of 299€

...meaning that all my other additional purchases are devalued to effectively nothing if I were to have purchased the upgrade. I don't agree with that, and I choose to not continue spending my hard-earnt money when I feel like I'm getting the butt-end of the deal for having spent more in the past.

I was curious to know if I was the only one who thought that it was unreasonable, or if I'd just missed something obvious (because the Softube website doesn't make it clear at all in my opinion).

The reason I was thinking of upgrading is because I wanted a couple more of the plugins (Modular, OTT) that are in the collection, and I thought that just getting the collection would make more financial sense, getting a bucket load of other plugins for the same cost. I'm glad I didn't buy either now.

Admittedly, @Mr Arkadin's situation is even worse.

I would contact Softube and lay out your case, including details of all of your relevant purchases. Show the individual amounts and the total of those purchases so far. You could suggest a bespoke upgrade price that you consider fair and reasonable (given how long you have been able to use the purchased plug-ins). You never know.

The OP is in for a bumpy ride in pluginland if this issue with Softube is as frustrating and disheartening as they mentioned. The plugin world is full of many challenges for the consumer. I would recommend that before you buy any plugin on sale that you look at what all the distributors have for it (eg. audio deluxe, jrr, everyplugin, etc), also read the company terms and conditions especially around refund and license transfers, also make sure to check what kind of authorization they use especially if you an aversion to any, download and work with any available demos, check the forums for what people are saying about it, make sure to scan through all the posts because there will be a contiginent of fanboys and trolls that may give you a false sense, and even then, once you buy, there are often over looked details that can bite you in the ass.

Perhaps on average it is, I don't know, but I don't like to tar every company with the same brush.

I had the best sales experience in recent times when I bought from Voxengo for example. I got their SPAN plus plugin recently (yeah, I went on a massive spending spree in December...), and then realised I wanted TEOTE as well.

It turns out there was a better offer if I bought two plugins at once, so I logged a support ticket to ask. The owner himself nonetheless replied to my ticket (Aleksey Vaneev), refunded my first order and let me put through a second one to save money on the ensemble. I couldn't recommend them highly enough (and I'm glad to have the opportunity to share that experience with everyone too).

I wouldn't hesitate to buy from them again, I just need to work out what I want... Quite like the look of Elephant.

What's the deal with Softube upgrade prices?
