Coming from reaper/Ableton and Cubase before that Bitwig made my jaw drop more than once. Never got results faster with fewer clicks anywhere else ... YMMV.
BTW, as much as I still love and use reaper, mainly with large orchestral templates Bitwig would definitely be my lonely island DAW for anything EDM or experimental.

Not necessarily a DAW feature . I still feel a DAW as a big 4 or 8 track recorder but with unlimited possibilities and features . Most I don't even use .... I used to use a tape recorder when I was a kid at one time too . The things I find mind blowing are NOT DAW features but plugins effects and instruments ....stuff like guitar2 midi plugin , sampled instruments for Kontackt , ezdrummer , addictive drums , Amp Sims , reverb plugins , Lofi plugins , bitcrushers , delay plugins , time stretching and looping like in Ableton , drum racks , ImpactXT , I 'm not a synth person but all the synth plugins are mind blowing too . So coming from a tape recorder to a computer is amazing in itself . Now from a full blown studio to a computer based music room or bedroom or laptop on the go is mind-blowing to me .

+1 on this, HUGE. The number of times I've used it to capture something cool that would have otherwise slipped by and disappeared...

In 1998 OR 1999 I spent March break writing and recording a track using my Mackie CR1604 direct into my Power Center 150 through the 1/8th inch audio input jack. i recorded a song using Bias Deck and Metro. Burned the CD and played it for my friends on my car CD player. I could hardly believe that this was possible. Everything about it from editing crossfades to those simple Deck insert efx was mind blowing to me but the physical CD that I produced on that rig felt like magic in the making.

Actually, Live was very late to this particular party.

As of now I'm only aware of 2 DAWs that don't have retrospective recording, i.e. Bitwig and Reason. For God's sakes, even MPC Software has it.

Renoise also doesn’t, but I don’t really think it would make much sense. 😉

Reaper doesn't either.
Oddly, it has a feature with that name but it's not a midi buffer like the others.

FL Studio directwave sampler can make a VST instrument of any VSTi. So you can still, kind of, use those CPU hogs like Diversion...

That's been a lifesaver tbh
Yup. That was the time when I decided to upgrade to the big version

Maybe if that was in 1894 but it's hardly been anything much for the last 60 years. We were doing that sort of thing in high school, with somebody's father's cassette recorder.
No, it was on my first 4 track recorder, separate tracks on one tape.. And yes it was magical.
Have you tried Vital?
