Without creating a huge list.....pretty tough to do...

Mezzanine - Massive Attack
(Their best album by a long stretch, and something that hasn't dated to me at all)

Ambient Works 2 - Aphex Twin
(Still as pretty as ever)

Dummy - Portishead
(Another all time classic that hasn't dated. It didn't sound like it belonged to a genre to me, which helps make it a little more timeless)

More recent stuff.....I've just discovered Arovane and love it. Very nice.

I try not to take influences for my music(consciously, at least), as that often results in mediocrity, so I will, instead, list the 5 most memorable albums for me:

1 - Aphex Twin's "The Richard D. James Album" - Beautiful! The album that made me get into electronic music definitely(and become obssessed with Aphex Twin).

2 - Mu-Ziq's "In pine effect" - Not his best overall, but "Within a sound" is one of the BEST SONGS OF ALL TIME.

3 - Aphex Twin's "26 mixes for cash" - The most addictive album in my collection. Didn't like it much at first listen but it seemed to grow better with each repeated listen. I can't live without it now!!!

4 - Prodigy's "Music for the Jilted Generation" - It wasn't as immediate as the fat of the land but where fat of the land is all for the immediate kick in the balls(there's not much to enjoy after a few listens), music for the jilted generation gives a lot more. Most of the songs are unique and always a joy to listen to(oh, my god, I'm making the prodigy sound gay!!!).

5 - Massive attack's "Mezzanine" - The last few songs are a bit dull but the rest is top notch.

some other ones I know remember:

Tangerine Dream: Force Majeure

Future Sound of London: ISDN

Amon Tobin: Supermodified

Depeche Mode: Violator

Kraftwerk: The Man Machine

Oh my, yes. Breadboarded a Moog 901 in 1969, from St. Dr. Bob's plans. :-) Mine didn't work very well, terribly unstable, wouldn't track its pitch CV for much more than an octave. Mostly my fault for being a sloppy tech and substituting parts (but I discovered years later that it was partly the design).

Learned to patch and play on a Moog Modular III in the early 1970s, used an ARP 2600 and a Mini too. (Special high school arts class for the "talented" kids. I have no idea why they let me in. Colossal error, but I'm glad of it.)

I learned to do track-by-track recording on old Akais and Teacs (sound on sound or sound with sound? ummm...); how to create "granular synthesis" by chopping up tape and splicing it back together; and how to prepare a patch on paper, grab the synth when my sign-up time arrived, patch like a crazed ferret (I'm a skunk, not a ferret, Jim!), play quickly, then tear it all down and "zero the board" (well, panels) for the next student in line. *WHEW*

Nothing I wrote or performed in that class was quite up to Carlos' level. Not by a megaparsec! :-D But my final, "Triangles," actually drew applause, surprising me no end... wish I hadn't lost the tape about a quarter century ago. *sigh*

Anyhow: I can't come to a new level of respect, been there all along. :-) Knowing how hard it was made the listening all the more enjoyable. I could really appreciate how much effort went into SOB, STS, Sonic Seasonings, the grab-bag of tunes on "By Request"... and the later stuff, mmmm.

Yeah, I know this thread is about albums, but with some artists it just seemed a bit trivial to list a specific record. Also, couldn't be arsed.

Arse.

Cos I was only a wee nipper (about 14), when microphonies came out, it was the first album of theirs I bought and I still reckon it's the most poptastic!
