i'm required to do a fairly basic 'production techniques' session in the studio tomorrow for uni, which requires me to record different mics and whatnot.

unfortunately time is VERY limited, and there will be a few of us in there needing to do the same tasks, so i want to make sure we're as prepared as possible so we can be mega efficient.

we'll be recording into audition thru a yamaha 02R desk, using just two channels. i just wanted to check if it is possible, using the multitrack recording mode, to save each track individually when recording? say i record two channels, does it automatically save that as a stereo file? or can i, say, right-click on each channel recording and save as an individual wave file? or is there a menu to let me save the recordings elsewhere, rename the temp recordings or choose the target recording folder?

i don't use audition at all, except for when i have to in uni, which is why i don't know how it does certain things. if someone could tell me the easiest way for me to save out two recorded channels of audio as separate, specifically named, wave files?

or can you name the channels so that the files are automatically prefixed? sorry for asking potentially stupid questions; like i said, i won't have much time to learn these kinds of things when i'm there

Go into multi-track view & arm two tracks. Make your recordings & when you are finished, double click on each wav & it will pop up in the edit window where you can save each seperately. Make sure you have the time selection tool selected when you double click on the recordings (S key).

ciao,

edit: In addition, right click on the track box with the channel info & you'll get a pop-up window that allows you to designate your inputs, etc..You can also drag this pop-up into the main window. :D

edit 2: You can also save the multitrack session which will place the individual waves in the area you designate. Double clicking on the created session file will automatically load all associated wavs.

that's good to know for the future :)

for now, there'll be a bunch of us making similar recordings, so it'll be handy to just save each pair as it's done (with recognisable names) and start again for the next lot. that way we can each edit our own wavs at home.

thanks again for your help sickle :)
