Does Arturia make good synths? I bought a Moog plugin for the iPad and it sounds better than the one Arturia did imo?

Hence why I am a bit hesitant to buy the entire Arturia V collection.
I have owned a previous version of V colllection, but it was not for me.
They are not the best if you coonsider the sound design (preset quality) part, and they are not the best from the technology side. Of course they are above the average stuff, but IMHO u-he Diva alone provides more vintage sounds and vibes than the entire v collection. I have also tried to like Pigments, It's a cool synth, but I prefer other wavetable synths for example Icarus 2.

I must have missed the sampling, vocoding, multioperator FM and multitrack sequencing parts of Diva.

Are you safe?

I'm kind of disappointed in these synths.
miniKORG is very good instrument for live playing. It has its own distinct sound.

Yep. It's been a while since I wrote that post. I went back to the new korg synths since then, and did find the minikorg to be better than my earlier impression. The Triton versions are more like romplers, but are a big step above the M1. Some of the Triton sounds are really amazing imo. The Prophecy is the only disappointment really. There are better physical modeling synths that aren't restricted to mono only, and the ui design is horrible, as the knobs and levers are too small, even after zooming in.

Have you played any of the original hardware instruments?
The original Triton was a rompler and the Prophecy came very early in the physical modeling technology.

They did update the UI's on all of them except the Legacy Cell. The patch saving and loading has changed as well.

No. But they advertise the prophecy as physical modeling, and the Sculpture physical modeling synth in Logic is way better. Prophecy is not that bad, but it's only mono/unison. That's not a good thing imo.
The Triton is a hybrid synth, not a complete rompler. It has pcm's and subtractive synthesis going on in the same patches. Like the Roland D series. It's quite good though.

I was going to correct saying it was a rompler to mostly a rompler, either way, my point was they are true to the hardware for the most part, so I was a bit surprised that you seemed surprised by them :)

Korg advertises Prophecy as "The Revival of the 90’s Physical Modeling Sound".

So we're looking here at nearly 30 year old physical modeling tech... "KORG’s physical modeling technology all started here, with the Prophecy. "
