December was all a bit too Decembery and I didn't get to take part. But I've had a lovely time listening to all your wonderful tracks and not having to think about ratings! Thoroughly enjoyable - great work everyone.

Haha, thanks so much, Yadrichik - I really appreciate your kind words! The orchestra broke out in spontaneous applauseYadrichik_Chaya wrote: Thu Jan 13, 2022 8:20 am I voted.
As usual insane how many great tracks! Love OSC! Highest score to many entries!![]()
But personally I'd be the happiest if schiing - Robots In Suits made it to the top 5 and wins a prize. This is my personal opinion, but if you also happen to have the same opinion that really counts - as in extra points for The Ted Mountainé Orchestra…![]()

Comment removed - may be seen as influencing
- sorry - although I suspect people do make up their own minds anyway based on their own scoring criteria

Do I need to wait til the voting is over if I wanted to re-upload my track, or do KVR download and save their own version for that playlist in the OP?
I just realized I didn't normalize peaks on the track so it's slightly lower in volume, not a huge deal but it would be nice to know for the future whether I need to keep my track up on my page for the entire 15 day voting period.
Also, I think it's weird to try to influence other people's votes.

I think the track you play via the voting page is one downloaded to the KVR playlist. BUT, if you open it from the SC link on the voting page, then it's the one in your account which is opened (and played) so people can add comments to the "original".
So yes, and no I think is the answer ... best not update until after voting, to be safe.

PS Edited my "influencer" post!! You were probably right, maybe, possibly ... best be safe eh?

Not correct. Tracks added to a playlist are not somehow copied, they just point to the original ones, you cannot replace them. When they are uploaded to archive.org, they are copied and you can do whatever you like.doctorbob wrote: Thu Jan 13, 2022 9:00 pm I think the track you play via the voting page is one downloaded to the KVR playlist. (I write this post under the assumption that briefcasemanx is referring to Yadrichik's recent post – if that's not the case, I can only apologize for assuming that, ultimately, everything is about me!briefcasemanx wrote: Thu Jan 13, 2022 8:41 pm Also, I think it's weird to try to influence other people's votes.
It might be a bad call to speak out loud, given that I'm sort of the center of attention – but I hope it's fairly obvious that I don't have ulterior motives. And I'm sorry if this post comes across as uncharacteristically un-mellow by my own standards. But so be it.
I was about to follow doc's lead and delete my own “thank you” note when I realized that, hey, I'm not cool with this at all. Because by doing so, I'd defer to briefcasemanx's point of view, and leave Yadrichik to do the walk of shame for his post, all alone. And I don't think Yadrichik did anything to deserve that.
Honestly, I don't agree that sourpuss comments like briefcasemanx's should define what's okay and what isn't in this context.
For one, I think it's more than a stretch to assume that Yadrichik's “personally I'd be happiest”, “this is my personal opinion” and “holding my thumbs” can somehow be construed as “trying to influence other people's votes.” It's Yadrichik's personal opinion, didn't you notice?? That's sort of what we do in this contest every month.
Secondly, I've seen people championing their own favourites in the forum many times, and call me sentimental, but I get a warm, fuzzy feeling every time I see contestants bonding over shared compliments - and I'd like to see more of it!
So – and this is MY personal view – I want to encourage everyone to post freely, and never feel bad or shameful about sending compliments (or playful “influencer posts,” for that matter!) to other people's work in this forum.
(All that being said, I fully acknowledge everyone's right to define whatever they think is weird as weird - even in the forum. I just don't want briefcasemanx to win this one!

I stand corrected, I know Z knows more about how all this works than I do. I mix the words of praise sent in my general direction with overwhelming feelings of self-doubt and denial. Still, it's better than the alternative, so keep 'em coming!
Seriously, though: Thanks!

I don't care if someone talks about which one's they like, or are their favorite or whatever, I've never had an issue with that. I think your song is great, I have no problem saying that, or anyone else saying that about any song. I had zero issue with what the Doctor said. I just think it's weird to try to comment to other people and talk about how would like them to vote. Everyone can make their own decision without pressure (however small) of disappointing another user by not voting the way a specific user would like them to vote.schiing wrote: Thu Jan 13, 2022 10:42 pm(I write this post under the assumption that briefcasemanx is referring to Yadrichik's recent post – if that's not the case, I can only apologize for assuming that, ultimately, everything is about me!briefcasemanx wrote: Thu Jan 13, 2022 8:41 pm Also, I think it's weird to try to influence other people's votes.![]()

I'm not saying that type of talk should be BANNED or anything either. If anyone wants to start pressuring anyone else about how to vote, don't let me stop you, go wild. I don't think it's some fundamental moral wrong or something, I just think that its weird so I'm gonna say so.

I wrote what I wrote because plenty of tracks got 5 pts from me this month. Out of all these 5 pts tracks, I personally, was hoping that Robots In Suits (and some other tracks as well) at least made the top five and the well-deserved prize.briefcasemanx wrote: Fri Jan 14, 2022 4:43 amI don't care if someone talks about which one's they like, or are their favorite or whatever, I've never had an issue with that. I even made a silly comment on soundcloud regarding doctorbob's inventions when it came to voting - maybe more of a bad joke formulated in the wrong way where I tried to express my appreciation of that entry - texts, links and smileys etc. are sometimes a very limited way of communication.
Never would I in reality want put the slightest pressure on anyone anywhere over anything. I'm really not a very serious person that claim to know how things ought to be or not be - quite the opposite. For me personally OSC is not so much a competition. I'm more in line with: ”most importantly, meet amazing musicians, and learn a lot about mixing, sound design, and more!” Which I have already done!
But I can still hope that certain entries, of all the ones I gave 5 pts, make the top five right?
You yourself gave Robots in Suits 5 pts so to some degree you know yourself where I'm coming from regarding this track
But I've noted your sentiments regarding influencing and will never do it again.
