To save a midi file, do I save as a mix or box file?
Hi!

Probably best if I clarify our Terminology, and explain what to do as I go.

Wotja's documents are Mix files, Album files, and Playlist files.

To create a MIDI file from a Wotja file, you need to start by opening a Wotja Mix file.

Open-up your Wotja Mix file (using the app) and select the Recording tab at the bottom.

From here, you can make as many MIDI recordings from Wotja as you want.

If you need to create a MIDI file recording from an *Album* file, you first need to select the Mix of interest in the album, and export it as a File. You can then use the Documents screen to open-up the exported Mix, and make the MIDI file recordings you want as outlined above.

I hope that explains things!

Best wishes, Pete

Just look for the File > Save Edit (or Save Edit as...) commands.

Tracktion refers to the project document as an "Edit". For example: "Edit 1.tracktionedit".

Thanks for the explanation. I'll follow those steps then.

Just discovered this morning - Wotja VST3 Plug-in not scanning?

- Solution: install the latest Microsoft C++ Redistributable from here:
- read more here: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/cpp/wi ... w=msvc-170

You can then re-scan your plug-in from your DAW. Tip: you might need to first clear your plug-in cache.

Best wishes, Pete

Is there a place where people are sharing their Wotjas creations? I have only been able to fine a few online.

You should be able to copy that text, and import it into Wotja. Let me know how you get on!

@Umcorps also pointed out to me on a different forum:
Umcorps wrote: Fri Jan 07, 2022 1:22 pm For larger mix files the easy way to share is by copying them to a cloud file host (Dropbox, Google Drive et al) and just creating a public link to them for pasting here or in other forums.

Note that it’s best to put the mix in a zip archive if you are going to do this because some of the places you might want to share the link to won’t recognise .wotja as a valid file type. But they all know what a .zip file is.

Might be a good time to mention that, while most mix files are tiny, if you have a mix using a plugin that saves its own audio files in presets ( hi Gauss!) those can be huge in comparison. So external hosting is the only option for those.

If that worked for you, you might want to create a forum thread specific to sharing of Wotja mixes and albums!

i really hope they get back to you, as Waveform is the only host I have that supports MIDI channel routing.

Hi Pete,

Yes, that worked for me. I was aware that you could share Wotja text to import into Wotja via the clickboard. I am surprised that with this ability, there isn't already a forum or a thread where people are sharing their creations. I was hoping to see what others have done to help me learn how to use Wotja.

If I get time, I will create such a thread.

I think I have found a bug with Wotja and external plugins. If you stop playing a mix, any note that was playing when you stopped the mix continues to play after you restart the mix, even though you are starting from the beginning again. Wotja should really send note off midi messages or perhaps even a midi panic when the stop button is pressed.

Hi! I happened to notice this earlier this morning. I've logged the issue. I have a feeling it is due to Wotja composing "in advance". I'll have to think about what a possible solution might be!
