As the subject says, having issues since my recent update to Monterey. I was way back on High Sierra due to a long-running project and wanted to update to get several Logic pro updates that I couldn't until I did the OS. In retrospect I wish I'd waited. I researched all my plugins to know what would work and what wouldn't, but didn't consider that Apple would break something as basic as usb.

I'd noticed some sluggishness but not all the time...but started noticing it was mostly with instruments stored on my external ssd. My internal drive is small and slow (MBP 2016) so I move big libraries for Kontakt and others over to the ssd.

I downloaded Blackmagic and tested both my external drives, one ssd and one older backup non-ssd. Both were less than 40MB/s read and write. That is absurd. Focusing on the ssd, I tried it on a different hub, with a usb-c to usb adapter, then located a usb-c doubled-ended cable and tried that. No change at all.

I've read some other posts on various place with people having usb issues--often the macs not seeing them--and a few with speed issues like this. A couple people mentioned the cables. I do have one free port so I can hook up the ssd directly to that port, but I'd want to make sure I got a cable that would actually fix it before I start throwing money at the issue. Anyone else have similar issues?

I've seen this mentioned on a few forums. In one discussion a cable swap fixed the issue, not sure if it would help in your case - https://www.reddit.com/r/MacOS/comments ... t/hk2ydqi/

Edit: just seen you already mentioned cables, reading comprehension fail.
