Sounds like Steinberg are trying to keep things very quiet. AFAI can tell the main thrust of C12 is
A) It's compatible with Win11
B) No dongle.

A) being pretty important
B) Utterly unimportant, and likely to cause huge hassles unless they're really lucky...but this is Steinberg we're talking about. :hihi:

They must be working on some other stuff I guess, because I for one am not going to pay the 2-version upgrade fee for simply getting a host that's Win11 compliant and f**king a dongle that works seamlessly and interferes with my workflow in no way at all. I can simply choose to not have anything to do with Win11 :? .

Dunno - they must have some bells and whistles to sell it surely?

Didn't they also announce it will be Apple Silicon Native?

I think they did so if not directly inadvertently, by admitting native silicone cubendo will not support vst2 plugins.

Plus stuff like this

and more importantly

I am 100% sure. :)

Those have been known for weeks.

I'm asking about actual features like workflow improvements, new devices, GUI clean-up, etc.

I feel like it's the calm before the storm. I'm not sure how much new stuff I'm expecting in 12.
I think they'll have their hands full with the licensing.
I'd take a small featured update for a small price, and be happy if ditching the dongle went smoothly though.

calm before the storm for sure.

I'll be happy if it's stable. That's all.
Would be nice if one of these re-writes involved a stable audio engine.
So one could do - anything without the audio stream glitching. Like most other DAWs.

the following point is important for me :)

Beat Designer in der Lower Zone (please!)

All the midi devices really deserve a do over. Guessing here but I think it is reasonable scoring functions will get some attention given the Dorico updates.

After watching the videos fir Dorico 4, I definitely want the jump bar in Cubase 12:

I suggested something similar one the SB forums, an integrated command line for Cubase for power users who prefer not to use the mouse. This comes close.

Also, the Dorico UI looks so much better that Cubase, much clearer, the fonts more legible.

Cubase 11 has been officially compatible with W11 for some time.

How the hell is that unimportant ? Maybe to you, but it's kinda the whole point of C12 , because how long have they relied on the dongle for protection , and now they are dropping it. I'd say that's pretty damn important.

I, for one, am glad it's going, they are a damn annoying feature, and i'm glad i wont be using one from here on out.
Don't trust those with words of weakness, they are the most aggressive

The free Dorico SE 4 can already be activated using the new system, I just did so.
I just tried it and it failed, but it does say that the servers are currently down.

Used Download assistant, installed the program, double clicked on it, and that's about as far as it goes without having an activated license.

When it does show up, does it show up in both places? - elicenser and the new Activation Manager?
