Hi Guys,

Music has the right to children - Boards of Canada
Insides - Orbital
Autobahn - Kraftwerk

Anybody else think Boards of canada are the most laid back duo of the decade.

alexander kowalski - echo's - got me into listening to minimal techno.
Fluxion - vibrant forms 1 & 2 (listening to fluxion now) - very relaxing, absorbing minimal techno.
Almost all of the stuff i've downloaded from http://www.thinnerism.com/main.php net label dedicated to minimal dub techno type stuff.

Exelent find that I'll have to read! Yeah the EM that poped into my head was dated 3-10-02 if that helps.

Yes and I hold T.M. in very high regards as one of the kinda "obscure" people who have really played a huge role in Electronica! I say obscure as I seem to find alot of people who sadly do not know who he is, or dont know the Cosmo's relation, but everyone has heard "Take Me With You" LOL....

He's the MAN!!!!

Good find on that link! Hope the date of the EM helps ya! If I recall it was pretty good, although may feel a bit dated now.

I'm not sure if these would strictly be considered electronica since they all feature acoustic instruments prominently as well, but they were integral in turning me on to the possibilities of synthesizer music...

Mark Isham - Vapor Drawings
Pat Metheny Group - Offramp
Ralph Towner - Blue Sun

You just brought some memories back when you mentioned Larry Fast and Synergy.
I had a Synergy album years ago in the 70s. I have no idea what became of it or what it sounded like but I do remember it being a good album.
If I remember rightly the cover had some kind of a swirly pattern on it and I looked on the Larry Fast website but couldn't find the name of it. This is going to bug me for ages now until I find its name. Bugger!

Sorry missed the BT one, This is a top cd, you have some good taste my man. A strange album, starts off all big beat, goes a bit trancy and ends on a nice guitar number. Still a favourite.

Nine Inch Nails - I like Reznor's style.
Depeche Mode - 101
New Order - Substance

Indeed, totally revolutionary in the use of ye olde technology and electronics. For the same reason, I'd go for My Bloody Valentine - Loveless, even though there's probably hardly f**k all synths on there, it's still 'indietronica' for shure.
If anyone was going to post this before me, it would have to be donkey tugger.

Loveless just proves that that there can always be life left in an old technology. You just need someone with the imagination to use it in a different way. The surprising thing about MBV sound was that the most futuristic sounding element was produced using tech going back to the 60's (Or I could be just talking crap on that one  ).

Steven West wrote:I think my MOST influential album is PIL's Flowers Of Romance... Even though it's alot of 'electronic' sounds - could it be considered 'electronica'?

Brilliant, whatever it's labeled as! :hihi:
PIL was quite influential for me too. And yes, much of the latest works sounded quite.....weird. :hihi:

How could I forget:

Tonto's Expanding Head Band -- Zero Time

They had the mother of all modular's -- well, almost.

I cant resist these type of threads :)

Aphex Twin - Ambient Works 1 & 2 (other worldly introspection)

808 State - Ex:El (Masterpiece, well ahead of its time)

Autechre - Amber (like a genuinely modern Jarre album, did what it did perfectly)

The Orb - Adventures Beyond the Ultraworld (created its own universe, on its own terms)

Jean michel Jarre - Oxygen & Equinox ( doesnt matter what else he does, it will never diminish these)

There are many great electronic albums but these are seminal to me.
