Can someone recommend a VST sequencer plugin that offers similar functionality to the Arturia Keystep Pro in terms of sequencing?

Not the same really. Reaktor midi fx always feels like a trainwreck. Something more simple.

I've been pondering that for awhile. Stochas has random settings. Pigments sequencer has regeneration. You would put Connector as a vst just before Max output. Then send to a Logic track with Connector on it. If it works at all then should be easy.
