Hey all, excuse me if this is obvious and/or done to death, but I can't for the life of me find the exacts words to put all of this into, so bear with me.
I've got 3 sounds I quite like across these 4 songs and it'd be appreciated if you all could point me in the right direction.
First up, this effect (not the voice) in Colorblind (1:43)
https://youtu.be/Zj1dyfQigzE?t=103
Similar kind of concept (to me at least) here, in Pastel (1:18) :
https://youtu.be/EHyoAXILbA8?t=78
This high energy sound in Kill the Andromeda (another time stamp at 2:12) :
https://youtu.be/NBLzVswpJEo?t=21
And the sound in the intro to Super Brothers (0:10)
https://youtu.be/JJpCFUEaVuM?t=10

Not sure what effect you mean. Mostly all I can hear in the first 2 are stupid chipmunk voices. I thought that kind of garbage died out in the 90s. Sampled voices played up and down the keyboard, albeit with probably a lot of processing. They might be pitch shifting them rather than straight chipmunking them, but not sure if you mean something else in there? Nobody can want to do chipmunk vocals again, surely? No 3 - lots of straight forward sampling from what I can hear, some of it looped.
As for the Super Brothers intro...someone strumming a guitar. Sampled probably. I'm guessing you mean something else, but no idea what. The only thing in the intro is the guitar...

It’s not the voices, no. I don’t really want to do those either. The best way I could describe it is a sort of record scratch or tape stop kinda sound, but something tells me that’s not what it is.
It’s also not the guitar strum, the sound I’m looking at starts at 0:10.
I timestamped all the videos but they’re not starting at the time stamp, so I’ll edit the OP with them.

Video 1: make an automation lane to control the pitch of a saw lead.
Video 2: sounds like scratching indeed. Didn't Pioneer CDJ have scratch-like controllers?
Video 3: it starts at 2:05 already. Same as 1: control the pitch via automation (now with LFO -> VCA)
Video 4: end of that guitar is done with tape stop effect as well while the bass player just slides his left finger down on the fretboard.
Good luck!

Cheers, appreciate the help. Just to make sure on the last part, is that how to get the guitar strumming part? Or the part after? (At 0:12 and 1:12) I hear a guitar in the background with the drums but that’s not the sound I’m going for.BertKoor wrote: ↑Tue Jan 25, 2022 7:42 am Video 1: make an automation lane to control the pitch of a saw lead.

Ah, ofcourse it's the synth you're after, not the guitars. Me thinks the synth player just used his pitch wheel to let it dive. You mostly find them on the left side of the keyboard.

Yeah, I'm familiar with it, I've just never used it, couldn't think of a good use for it, but now that you mention that and I think about it some more, I could see that being how they managed it.
Appreciate the help, I'll have a faff around once I get some time and see what I can do.
