Hi guys, maybe i didn't search good enough, but looking for a new pair of cans for producing and mixing. I produce mostly bass heavy genres like hardstyle/rawstyle.
My budget is around 400 euro, less is better offcourse
If it isnt the right place, please move IT to another section.
Greetings

..
was thinking the same...
I decided to get this pair of headphones :
https://europe.beyerdynamic.com/dt-900-pro-x.html
..mainly 'cos it covers good range of applications...
feedback would be great..
I do know there are slightly different opinions on this subject -
I can't waste any more time going into every detail of it all...
life is too short some say...

Yeah me too. I also heard good things about the 1770 pro. Its 420 something, but if its even better, i can consider it.Synthack wrote: ↑Wed Jan 26, 2022 4:52 am They look good though for the price. Lowest freqency they can recreate is 5hz
The specs are the same and a little better compared to
https://www.focal.com/ca/en/monitoring- ... ofessional
Which are quite pricy. $1,490
They are low impedence too, which means you won't really need a high end amp to drive them.
I'm definitely interested in how they sound now.

Consider getting Sennheiser HD-600, beyerdynamic DT-1990 Pro or beyerdynamic DT-880 Pro, all three models are regularly recommended for mixing and producing, they're classics.
I don't know much about the DT-900 Pro X, but they're apparently flatter than the V-shaped DT-990 which they're supposed to be an upgrade of. If I were you, I would probably get one of the older beyers or the Sennheisers, but YMMV obviously.
Demo any headphones you wanna purchase if you can swing it.

The headphones are one of the perennial favorites among audiophiles on account of their natural mids and highs, which are accurate, but not sibilant.
They're not particularly bass heavy, they should be pretty accurate though.

So it would give a good image of the bass sounding ? Because in hardstyle/rawstyle, the kicks are the most important and i need a good audio review to be precise.crickey13 wrote: ↑Wed Jan 26, 2022 10:42 amhttps://www.rtings.com/headphones/revie ... ser/hd-600

It should give an accurate enough response, but YMMV obviously. I'd either ask people producing and mixing in your style of music with the aforementioned headphones or test the headphones in person if you can, the latter of which is the most sure way of finding out whether these are for you.
You may also use some headphone correction software like TB Morphit to simulate the frequency response of the Senns and see if that suits you.
What may suit one person may not be enough for another. I know this may sound a little vague, but given differences in taste, workflow and ear shape differences, it's truly impossible for me to advise beyond that point and it would be disingenuous of me to do that. Neither do I produce nor listen to hardstyle, so I can't help you there.
Also, do bear in mind that no pair of headphones is truly flat and perfect; it's likewise about learning the inherent flaws as well as the frequency response of your cans all of which involves a lot of practice.
I bet one could make great mixes with something like Beyerdynamic DT-100 with the right set of skills and a lot of practice. One could argue mixing and producing with the headphones you know and have learned thoroughly is preferable to mixing with some theoretically perfect headphone design, which doesn't really exist. In other words, use what works for you.

These get good reviews from producers of bass heavy music. Zardonic for example - https://olloaudio.com/products/federico ... a-zardonic ... I also know of a producer and mastering engineer from the Psytrance scene who rates them highly.
I have the HD650 and have mixed electronic dance stuff using mostly those, but I think you can do better for low end. I use the Slate VSX for mixing lows now and I'm getting good results.
