hey guys, ok just out of interest, i remember i had once the PLAYER version installed but never followed it anymore. for no specific reason. but i see synthmaster 2? for 30-40 bucks and so on sold, why is this synth so cheap sold? anything i missed? of course cheap doesnt mean bad, i mean just look at Vital, free!

id guess, competition, if youre as good but cheaper, you sell to more people

Synthmaster is one hell of a bargain, no doubt about it. The price is low in part almost certainly because there's hardly a shortage of software synths available right now competing for your money. But I'd also be willing to bet it's the business model. Notice the number of expansion packs there are. KV331 could likely give the instrument away for free and make a pretty good return just selling the sounds to use on it.

I personally think he sells it too cheaply and gives the impression it is a cheap tool.

I think I originally "bought in" at 2.0 or slightly after and it was about $75-79.
I haven't had to pay for any updates and that was quite a while ago.

It's a great synth with a lot going for it that happens to be priced lower than some others.

If it had a less terrible name, it might cost more.

You could ask them to do that, and feel better about both buying a synth with a better name and paying a better price for it? Win/win.

Agreeing on the first part of this answer. I don't know if they sell that many expansion packs (?), but with a tempting price for a full-fledged synth, it becomes something many would pick, just because. So it's different from Falcon, Omnisphere etc. I assume they have much fewer users.

What speaks to this is also the fact they never get to v 3.0. Of course, if it's a paid upgrade, then they'd have a handsome amount of cash coming in.

Or maybe they just want to create something a lot of people use, instead of a niche product with few users (due to a high price).

I also wonder just how great it is (sorry). I have had various versions of it for five years or so, but almost never use it. Can't say why really. Maybe I'm just an

I just updated to 2.9.11 and re-downloaded the expansion packs as part of the Everything Bundle. FYI there are a total of 4166 presets listed which I assume is the total off all the packs.

I feel like it is a capable synth and I enjoy using it, it can sound good, but I do find more often than not it seems to be lacking in a certain "sonic depth" that I find in other synths. For example Massive X just has a weight to it that I don't quite reach as often with Synthmaster. Just in my experience.

I am glad to have it as a tool though.
