The eighties were the decade of Italo disco, as a synth head I really like this style of music. One of the biggest 80s Italo hits was Call Me by Ivana Spagna, here is my tribute to this song, played on hardware synths (Minilogue XD and Roland Juno DS) and an Ibanez Gio guitar:

Super covers, it takes me back.
Sounds identical to the original from memory, great job.

Great job, enjoyed the listen. Love 80s music!
The guitar is right in the pocket, and the mix has a good balance and energy in the right places (horn stabs especially).

Great job on the sounds, well done.
The mixing however does lack some "dimension".

Thanks for the feedback Bansaw! As I am still a rookie at producing, can you explain what you mean and what I should differently?Bansaw wrote: Sun Jan 30, 2022 11:55 pm Great job on the sounds, well done.

Width in terms of panning (I use hard left/right sometimes on some elements, and other key element such as vocal and kick up the middle), and depth in terms of some elements having more reverb than others. If you listen to yours and the original side by side, there is more dimension on the original.LocalTrack19 wrote: Mon Jan 31, 2022 6:17 amThanks for the feedback Bansaw! One plugin I found that helps with width and depth (when used in moderation) is Leapwing's Stage One.

Ah I see. Thanks for the tip. Is StageOne comparable to Izotope Imager? I will check out the demo versionBansaw wrote: Mon Jan 31, 2022 3:32 pmWidth in terms of panning (I use hard left/right sometimes on some elements, and other key element such as vocal and kick up the middle), and depth in terms of some elements having more reverb than others. StageOne is a different animal to Imager DrMS gets close but StageOne does something unique. There's a demo which you can check out.LocalTrack19 wrote: Mon Jan 31, 2022 6:20 pmAh I see. I'm trying to learn mixing, take my comments with a pinch of salt.
To me, the original vocal seems to be in a pocket in the middle with the music to the sides.
I would make a dip in the instrumentation mid channel for the vocals with a mid/side or dynamic EQ.
I was humming this for ages after listening, good stuff. Excellent transcribing.
