Cool. I like R4 and Lexicon Mpx best in your video. R4 is awesome. Very good recommendation.Plugintester wrote: Wed Feb 02, 2022 4:58 pmI am addicted to plate reverbs, I have more plate reverbs than compressors or eqs.DCrown wrote: Wed Feb 02, 2022 11:24 am I like Waves Abbey Road Plates, but is there another good plate plugin, maybe a little more cpu friendly?
Which plate do you prefer?
If you like creating your own sound with lots of tweaking options Waves H-Reverb or R4 by Exponential Audio might be the right choice, if you prefer it simple maybe Soundtoys Little Plate, they are all great. I have a video testing 12 different reverb plugins and u can see and hear what an amazing sound I create with R4 in a short time.
I ve also a electro song Darlin Nikki on youtube using TC electronics DVR250 a lot, I rarely use it, but it can work great for edm, electronic music, sounds pretty artificially. Maybe this one is something for you?!
Your song is great, I like your version very much, I also know the original version. The Kraftwerk style really surprised me, that's not what one would expect.
What synths do you use? , they sound amazing.

Totally underrated.
Cleaner than Valhalla.
Quite good!

Still liking the PSP 2445 EMT.
Also think that Soundtoys Little Plate is pretty 'underrated'.
Other than that, these two are also on the List:

The PSP 2445 isn’t a plate reverb, it is an early digital reverb afaik.El°HYM wrote: Wed Feb 02, 2022 7:56 pm Still liking the PSP 2445 EMT.

Little Plate is great. Simple, easy to use, sounds great.

My favorite is the Valhalla Plate as well ! I think UAD must have very good ones too but I don't own one of their soundcard. Little Plate is excellent but has a lot of character, so it does not work on everything.

I always thought the 244 & 245 were digital hardware recreations of their Plates, which is not really true, as its much more versatile than that and actually indeed a Hall Simulator including 2 very good Plate - Algorithms, which PSP nailed pretty good, imho. Well, with the Help of Barry Blesser, who did the original ones.

There are two distinctly different types of "plate" reverbs.
One is an actual sheet of metal that acts similarly to a real spring reverb.
The other is a digital algorithm found in every FX processor that attempts to sound like a real plate.
So the first question is which type of plate are you looking for?
I view them as two totally separate reverb types that shouldn't be lumped together.
Of course, on the other hand, you could view all plate reverb plugins as belonging to the second type, with some just being much more sophisticated algorithms than others.
So anyways, when I want a "real" plate I go for Arturia Rev PLATE-140, hands down.
For a "digital" plate reverb, I use Relab LX480.

I found that some good plate impulse responses usually work best. Convology XT comes with some pretty good ones and you can find captures of some classic EMT plates (among many others) on the web or in our impulse responses thread for free. Algos imitating plate reverb seldomly sound like the real (electro-mechanical) thing though, that's why I prefer impulse responses.

The UAD EMT 140 has been my favorite by far, despite having a reputation of not being completely authentic to the real thing.
I don't own a UAD anymore, but this is one of the few plugins i'm actually missing a bit.
