Btw
Have you tried the Turbo Comp ?
They have an excellent emulations of SSL 2buss compression and API. Don t just stop right there, tweak the side chain with EQ, add the variable harmonic before and after the compressor, then combine the sound with M saturatorMB to add more harmonic on the sub, mids and air on top. Next on the chain put a MUltra Maximizer as a soft clipper then slap Mlimiter at THE END. Youll see why im a F#@$^ PRO at this. Possibilities are endless guys 👦

And set the sampling rate to 4 or 6 x for more Transparency.

For me, their UI is fine (and I never understood why UI was a big thing -- why do people get so worked up about some lines and blobs?); I just don't like having my filesystem littered.
Wait... loot _then_ burn? D'oh!

First of all, everyone is different with different needs and expecations, generally speaking. So while you dont care about UI, for others its a critical part of a product. Both are valid. Assuming you aren't being rhetorical the answer to question is: because the UI creates an experience for the user. And for those users that prefer a good experience, they may focus more on the UI (and UX) of the product. It's good you dont because then you dont have that constraint in your purchase decisions. But for those that do, it can be more complicated.

:( You may want to sell your license :P
But then I'd have to sell every single plugin Melda makes or will make in the future along with it.

I just use the single plugins, not mxxx. Maybe someday I'll try out mxxx and make something wacky.

I own Melda and am actually not at all in the "they ugly can't work with them" camp, but there's something to be said about UX and getting stuff done fast if you have finite amount of time and a lot of work to be done.
Melda is not the first i reach for when i have clock ticking, not because it's ugly, but because there are tools fine-tuned far better that can get the job done much faster and are much harder to make sound bad.
I really like it when i'm tinkering and tweaking or doing sound design, because having such and "open" framework means you can do a lot that it's practically impossible with other tools.

MEqualizer has features that blow away paid EQs and it's free. The auto listen and visual aid features are fantastic, and the saturation is good. I like their Loudness Analyzer and MTransformer is really good for pitch shifting and morphing a sound. Big fan!

I like the possiblity to download additional presets. Some of them are really inspiring.

MMultiAnalyzer has really been a bit of a revelation for me. So glad I picked it up on sale the other week.

Melda Marmite…

The pros:
Sound designer’s dream. The breadth of sounds and FX. The modulations. The randomizations. The crazy details (e.g. reverb for nerds).
The framework features. The built in preset exchange. The auto gain compensation in every plugin. Oversampling in every plugin.
The customer loyalty. Buy once, update for life. New plugins for bundle owners. Love it.

The cons:
Ya ya the UI isn’t great.
A buddy thinks the plugins are a bit bloated. Might have a point with some of them as they all come with the same framework overhead.
A bit spendy at full price. You have to wait for the 50/60/70% sales which takes a while if you’re eager…
That’s about it IMO

Imo they are bloated, and parameter ranges have a narrow sweet spot for conventional work.

But if they weren't bloated and parameter ranges were nerfed, they wouldn't be sound designer's dream.
I really don't see how you could do one without the other.

Reinstalled my melda plugins to try ring mod on transients and my impression is still the same. Hands down as poor an interface design for modulation as anything else on the market. Much of the functionality is not clearly visible, requires far too many clicks to achieve desired results. Shame as the functionality is quite good but the design is so complex and idiosyncratic that unless one uses their plugins in the same way and often they are overly difficult to casually use in all their possibility.
Having tutes that don't match interfaces with the current version doesn't help as well. Even pausing the youtube and trying to match with what was on my screen did not work.

They have a steady sound. That's rare, the grit often experienced by using them would mean you have some trick up your sleeve. Like maybe compressivecm slightly to side with the m/s detector on the treble down a point or two. But, with that extra work, and their filters having a defined sound, like in the way of hearing the trigonometry, it comes down to genre and what's applicable.
