Softube model 84 is straight fire though. It might be as good as repro.

I'm sure they are already thinking about it. It's a missing link right now.SLiC wrote: Thu Feb 03, 2022 12:42 pm Drum Machine - a new Spark...Spark was so close to being great, just a but Fugly-take the Spark idea (with its modular ability) and combine that with a nice Pigments type interface and Arturia will have one of the best drum machines given they make hardware drum machines its amazing they haven't really pushed the software drum side...maybe they could even do a range (808, 707 and hybrid as a '3 drum machines your actually use)

Spark is super underrated.
I have a mega beef with Spark though. How the hell do I own an Arturia Keylab MK2 and it's not a super streamlined process to get the drumpads on the Keylab to correspond to Spark's drumpads? They purposely made Spark annoying to use without the custom Spark midi controller to drive sales of it up. Great plan Arturia, looks like it really worked out well for you! Now they don't even sell the midi controller AFAIK but won't update Spark to be more useable.
That said, Spark is super underrated.

Just talking from the point of being a guy who makes presets every day - the big difference between Repro and Model 84 is that u-he didn't just provide an excellent audio engine, but also a whole armada of top-notch effects. Just the distortion models alone are absolutely insane. From gentle tape saturation to DnB wubwub territory. Jaw-droppingly good.briefcasemanx wrote: Fri Feb 04, 2022 7:10 am Softube model 84 is straight fire though. It might be as good as repro.
The Model84 is "just" an excellent Juno clone.
That was actually what personally won me over with the Arturia Juno, that the Arturia had a decent effect section. I think that's actually what makes Arturias V-Collection synths so appealing to me. They do a decent enough emulation of the core sound, plus expand its capabilities on a few key areas.
Just to be clear, I'm really not dissing on the Model 84. But I would have bloody married the thing if they would have added a reverb and a delay. It's not like Softube doesn't have the code for some hq effects. But I get it. They wanted to go full authentic, and I do respect that.

I actually like the Arturia Juno better than the TAL, lol. The Arturia Juno is really good. Do you sell presets? Or do you find it annoying to create channel/fx chain presets in your DAW?DrGonzo wrote: Fri Feb 04, 2022 9:29 amJust talking from the point of being a guy who makes presets every day - the big difference between Repro and Model 84 is that u-he didn't just provide an excellent audio engine, but also a whole armada of top-notch effects. I feel like if I were a sound designer and I wasn't selling presets or switching between DAWs I'd just make all my presets channel presets so I could use whatever effects I want. I'm also not into super in depth preset management though either.

I think the Roland Jupiter 4 is pretty much the only new analog era synth I'd be keen to have at this point. Simple Minds in the outstanding 1979-1982 era was full of the thing and it sounds glorious, especially the arps. How's the Cherry Audio version, does anyone know?

Yeah - been running my own label for almost 15 years now, and personally I like both approaches and I don't think they are excluding each other. What I like about synths like Repro which has a lot of good effects - is that you get instant inspiration. In one click you get a smooth filtered sawtooth pad with slow chorus, some modulation and a huge reverb and some panned delays. But I make my own preset chains in Live as well - or in something like the Soundtoys rack. Both approaches are great and are just two roads that leads to the same place of coolness.briefcasemanx wrote: Fri Feb 04, 2022 9:43 am I actually like the Arturia Juno better than the TAL, lol. It sounds good. It's their best synth (not counting modular). I don't think it scratches the itch of the amazing Jupiter 4 square wave though. But I also don't think there's an emulation on the market close enough to analog to do something like the jup-4 square wave oscillator justice.noiseboyuk wrote: Fri Feb 04, 2022 9:50 am I think the Roland Jupiter 4 is pretty much the only new analog era synth I'd be keen to have at this point. Thanks! Tried the demo, nice - not sure I reaaaally need it as it's perhaps not quite as distinctive-sounding as I'd hoped. Now being swayed by their Polymoog at $19 though....briefcasemanx wrote: Fri Feb 04, 2022 10:07 am It sounds good. It's their best synth (not counting modular). I'd love to see MPE and microtuning added across the range, some full version worthy GUI/features/DSP updates for their oldest stuff (like the CS80V), another digital synth if possible (licensing, samples, etc) and a polivoks.

I would like to see Spark drums brought back into the collection and updated. Akai & Roland S series samplers, Roland Alpha Juno. Please!

As much as the latest release from Korg made my pulse tick a little faster, the only thing in the world of software instruments right now that makes me really excited is Arturia. And honestly I don't mind them releasing synths one by one like they did with the Ensoniq. Getting 3+ synths in one go is a bit heavy.
