A compressor works fine, but ducking is far better IMO. I use Duck by Devious Machines. Volumeshaper is also great. It triggers the envelope via midi, so each time the kick hits, the volume is automated. Why is this better? Because you can get very precise with the timing of the duck, which gives the pump all kinds of timing/creative possibilities.

That said, manually automating this with a volume envelope (as someone else suggested) is a hilariously bad way to do it.

In the tutorials I mentioned, they didn’t use the Ableton’s glue for sidechain. It was used after EQ & Reverb etc in an individual synth track/line. But there was no sidechain going on.

Sidechain is naturally very important in many music especially in EDM. But that was not the case in these videos. I will edit the original post to be more clear sorry :D
