The original star wars score was astounding, immense, ridiculous. John Williams got bored a long time ago, in a... yeah, you know. You can't keep up that level of engagement indefinitely, churning out similar product year after year.
Every day takes figuring out all over again how to f#ckin’ live.

Soundtrack-wise IMO the originals win by quite a distance. The new ones are OK but I can't honestly remember any of the tunes (though nostalgia might have something to do with that).
I remember going to some orchestra-in-the-park thing many years ago where they had a Star Wars theme with lasers doing a fancy light show in the sky (might even have been the Halle - can't remember now - it was in the grounds of a big stately home outside MCR). They did lots of the Star Wars tracks but also some big classic popular tunes from the likes of Beethoven, RimskiKorsakov etc and TBH those Star Wars tunes held up well against everything. I really can't see the later ones sitting alongside Beethoven with a full orchestra.
But yeah - as vurt says, memory does affect everything. Possibly the kids of today will think the same about the new Star Wars soundtracks. For me though - the main Star Wars themes have just as much impact as Beethoven's fifth - instant impact, easy to remember, dramatic, each piece has obvious emotional sound. It would be easy to see John Williams as a modern-day Beethoven IMO.
