I demo'd the official Ampeg SVT Suite against all the PA Ampeg's and it slaughtered them. The PA's have that "blanket over the speaker" feel that I've found with pretty much all Nembrini sims.
My advice is wait for a sale on the real deal.

Yesterday I was mixing a song in which I want satisfied with bass tone. I had a PA Ampeg sim on the track, and I decided to try the old Ignite Amp SHB-1 (free) instead and it was the definitely better.

Bassdude, despite it's name, is more suitable for electric piano and guitar amplification. It has a relatively "thin" bass tone. Don't know why people are recommending it? I have the PA Bassdude, the one channel version of the PA SVT (was free for a limited time) and the PA Ampeg B-15N. The B-15N has by far the best bass tone out of the bunch: round, solid and fat.
When it comes to freeware I can recommend the TSE BOD bass overdrive plugin (just a pinch of it), the Ignite Amps SHB-1 (as mentioned before) and a good bass cabinet impulse response.

Bassdude my first choice for bass!
Even though Bassdude is mostly used
for guitars, a lot of bassists use a guitar
amp for bass, the reason is that it cuts
through a mix. The frequencies from 500 to 5 kHz are more important than low end to me, sometimes I lc my bass at 90 hz or 120 Hz, don't need that low end rumble.
Amplitube also has some guitar amps that work great on bass.
Btw Bassdude was devoloped by Mr. Nembrini, Nembrini has a nice bass amp sim, too, I forgot the name, though

PA amps are currently on sale at $29.99
This month's generic voucher. viewtopic.php?f=43&t=262151&p=8345532#p ... ent8345532
Add a low value item, say $9.99, to reach the voucher's $32 threshold use.
A $29.99 item + a $9.99 item + voucher = Total $17.98 including VAT

i've got PA Ampeg SVT-VR “Classic” it's nice,but think V4b.
It's heavy discounted now so my addiction could make spend mmore more for stuff i don't really need.
First things i bought from plugin boutique was AIR Hybrid for 1 euro and few sondset 1 euro each and some other stuff in 5-10 euro range.
Didn't plan to buy anything from them, now have 100-150 synths,fx,libraries, soundsets so on.
Plugin aliance seems use similar strategy - ones you buy you become addicted to their site.
For now resist, but will see in near future with these discounts
Cheers

Some nice harmonics are in 4000-5000hz range.

I would not at all call it "thin"... what bass-guitar did you run through it and what IRs did you use?Ikaz7 wrote: Mon Feb 07, 2022 9:11 am It has a relatively "thin" bass tone. Don't know why people are recommending it?

But with the Fender Bassman (which Bassdude emulates) it's actually the other way around - as its name suggests, it (the first models) was originally designed to be and marketed as a bass-amp. But then it soon became really popular with guitar-players.DCrown wrote: Mon Feb 07, 2022 5:33 pm Even though Bassdude is mostly used
