I would end up in the awkward situation of having to pick the DAW with the best built in guitar amp.

I have no desire to go back to using a real amp and microphone and none of the DAWs on the market include good Amp Sim plugins.

I have experience of only - Studio One , Logic , FL Studio and Ableton -- Live has FX and instruments that I actually find useful. I had studio One for 2 years and quickly found out how pitifully useless its native instruments and FX were for me. Logic has a behemoth in Alchemy and a very good sampler , but Alchemy was archaic in its workflow , so only the sampler was useful for my particular needs and tastes. Horses for courses , and in this Poll Ableton really has no competition (from my point of view)

I'm surprised how poorly Reaper is doing in this poll ;) :D

Yeah... who'd a thunk it!

Because you asked this poll question and I answered Logic, I launched Logic yesterday and started a project there. It had been a while and I just feel so fluid and fast in Bitwig these days. I was already forgetting how to do stuff in Logic! Alchemy is superb and I made some gorgeous vocal presets yesterday but I was still considering switching my vote to Bitwig from Logic (except unlike that previous poll, this one does not allow a switch).

Logic. It hits almost every major point when it comes to instruments and effects. FM synthesis, virtual analog, modeling synth, even wavetable, etc. Pretty much every kind of effect you can think of from transient designer, to autotune like pitch correction, to camel phat. It's probably the most complete package for the price.

Though I am a Max power user and for sure I could create anything as M4L devices, I still prefer in a DAW context the Grid. I am way faster cobbling together the weirdest MPE ready experimental synth…
The other stock synths and fx of Bitwig is all I would need…
The Grid is inspiring, though limited compared to Max.
They can compete easily… And for me Bitwig as a complete package would keep me creating far better than Live ever could…

I prefer Bitwig's instruments (including the Grid) compared to Live Suites instruments. IMO, not only does Bitwig compete, but is flat out better.

Ableton's instruments are fairly limited when it comes to built-in modulation. Not only limited, but also clumsy in use. Bitwig instruments on the other hand have the full use of Bitwig's modulation system and that is per voice. So every Bitwig Instrument has unlimited per voice modulation and greater variety of modulators, it is also much more elegant in use. The modulation workflow in Bitwig is light years ahead of Live.

And yeah... the Grid is a fantastic MPE synth!

That's all well and good but imo Live's devices just sound better and that's way more important to me than fancy modulation. The only instrument in Bitwig that sound really good to my ears is The Grid and that's more complicated than I want just to get a decent 2 OSC Wavetable synth.

Bitwig's Grid is more powerful then anything live gives us, but the important distinction is you can ONLY use what the DAW offers you.
Ableton's sock content, from samples, to devices, are far more well rounded.
You can do wavetables, sampling, physical modeling, granular, and a really great FM synth.
Assuming we are considering Abelton suite here, you also get GB upon GB of sounds and (this might be cheating) M4L.

Logic comes close with its great plugins, apple loops, sample libraries, and Alchemy. They would be my 2nd vote if I was to get one.
The post above this is likely bait, viewer discretion is advised.

That is why it is good to have different options for different peeps preferences. For me, Bitwig's instruments sound better. They do take a little more work cause by default they are too neutral/perfect. Once one creates a library of template sounds, that is no longer the case.

According to this exercise, you only get the M4L devices included with Live.

Yes. I said "top version of the DAW", so with Live Suite it's all the M4L stuff that comes with it and 80+ GB of sound packs :)
