Now that I've got most of the "big bugs" out of the way, I'll look to do some profiling (memory, CPU) next.

However, I first need to take a few days off - things have been kind of manic around Intermorphic Towers since the turn of the year :)

Best wishes to all, Pete
Thanks Pete! :tu:

You and Tim are a great team, and I really appreciate all of the improvements that you have made since 1st January. Wotja is probably my most used app of 2022 so far

Thank you very much!

We have a lot of people who now seem to rely on Wotja as a core part of their creative process, which is lovely I think.

It is interesting to reflect that there are many "AI" music technologies around these days, but we've remained focused on trying to keep the user at the heart of the creative process. I guess we're still doing something right!

Best wishes, Pete

Hi Wotja fans!

I was asked on another forum about why we've had to fix so many issues with Wotja 22. I thought I'd share my response here.
We test Wotja as thoroughly as we can, and have built-up an extensive suite of automated tests.

However, the simple fact of the matter is that we are just one developer (me), and there are approximately half a million lines of code to manage, across 4 major platforms (iOS, macOS, Windows, Android).

Adding support in Wotja 22 for plug-in hosting has been a very complex endeavour - work on this started back in March last year. We've found a lot of oddities with behaviours of different plug-ins - it was impossible to foresee just how many, frankly! - and that has simply taken a lot of work to process.

On top of that - we added support for VST3 for Windows. Again, from this we found a very wide variety of behaviours in the various plug-in host DAWs on Windows; thankfully, we have a big base of customers (some of whom are now Beta testers!) who have been kind enough to help us work through the various issues.

So: what we undertook for Wotja 22 is not for the faint hearted :)

Thank you for your ongoing support, and patience, it is much appreciated.
Best wishes, Pete

Indeed!!!

If you had asked other developers for their opinions on tackling a first time VST3 plug-in, you might have been steered away!

Happy that you persevered anyway!

It's a wide wide open world for plug-ins and hosts out there, particularly on the Windows side. So many possible variations for system configurations. Have also heard some other developers complain that the VST3 spec is hard to interpret, and that things would have been better if Steinberg had left VST 2.4 alone. Even some major manufacturers struggle with plug-in compatibility from time to time.

It's a very brave step for an individual developer to take that risk!

Hi Folks,

Wotja 22.2.0 will arrive any day now.

IMPROVED: Rule Editing is now much easier through use of a Rule selection checkbox.
IMPROVED: Desktop apps now have a "close" button which closes the Document tab; this is for cross-platform UI consistency.
IMPROVED: Accessibility text (top-right Mix button, Cell Properties button, Grid button).
FIXED: A number of minor Rule editing bugs.
FIXED: Crash when Settings > 'Embed Hosted Plug-in UIs' was off (i.e. plug-ins are in their own Windows) and the mix file was closed.
FIXED: A couple of UI typos and other minor bugs.

P.S. Love Wotja? You can *really* help us by giving a new rating for each app update. Thank you!

Best wishes,

Pete
