They pretty much said “no m1 native because rosetta is fine” iirc.

okay but if their customer data shows that a majority of their userbase is on non m1 Macs or other oses and they are not a big company, I think that's kind of understandable. not sure about the details here of course.

chromaphone looks pretty good. is image just the chromaphone engine repackaged? I love expressive es interface design but maybe going with aas will be the safer bet then.

Chromaphone is relatively well maintained, been M1 since last spring i think.
I like imagine’s interface as well but I already have chromaphone so it feels redundant.

Also to be honest chromaphone3 looks much better than 2. I only wish they made a “dark” variant :)

I haven’t taken the time to pore through ghis but aye🧿 love aas stuff physical audio corpus tension etc
And uhh… thought about making the same post to gather all ov the fake mallet mallets .. aye🧿 bet there will some day 🐝 the equivalent for fude … not a huge fan ov sampleson really but i figure that … we’ll xoxos has quite a few technically pm… and they’re free
Also Ironhead spawn … Pm is great because it’s trying to emulate something from real life , not Calvin Harris’ big ass JX5P-760 walk-in rack module that actually is quite coveted because ov a tactorynerror , the unit is not able to STOP chaining … unless you activate the vocoder … twatman … byet yes dis thread will keep me very tickled because y’all have to know some stuff I’ve

Noisy is great, but I wouldn’t recommend it unless you have the Touché controller, which I recommend you get.

Plasmonic is fantastic. Like Noisy it’s more synth sound oriented than realistic instrument focused.

The AAS stuff… it’s OK. Hampered by lack of modulation and control options.

If you’re looking for realistic instruments, the SWAM stuff is hands down the best. Expensive as hell, but man, what a sound.

Touché controller and Plasmonic is a match made in Heaven (I know Heaven isn’t real… touché is though)

In my opinion Chromaphone is better than Imagine.
Imagine's way of creating sound is by combining fixed model presets (three categories with some sub-categories sorted by exciters and resonator chains each and a bunch of presets with internal/hidden parameters per sub-category) and modifying/modulating given (model-dependent) parameters via macros, MSEGs and MIDI learn/DAW automation.
Chromaphone creates its sounds by mixing two kinds of exciter per source (noise and mallet) and chaining up to two resonators with way more parameters exposed than in Imagine.

Imagine's advantage is its better sequencing capability (loopable MSEGs for rhythmic sequences), whereas Chromaphone allows for much deeper access to setting up a physically modelled sound source vs. Imagine's numerous, but fixed model presets.

Both have their pros and cons, in my opinion Chromaphone is superior due to its more flexible sound generation.

I didn't know whether (and don't hope) Imagine and/or Noisy are possibly abandonware.

Been using Prism and Chromaphone for acoustic stuff and am absolutely amazed at what it can achieve. Both have hard limits as well.

Right now I have Chromaphone set up for acoustic bass and Prism for orchestral strings on a project. As much as I love modern romplers, I doubt that any could sound that good compared to modern PM.

Thank you for taking the time to reply. Was very informative. I think I see, whats happening here: Imagine probably fixed editing spaces to get to quicker sweet spots, so its mainly a matter of choice. I generally prefer synths that give you quicker results, as I'm not that much into sound design. On the other hand, it's kind of a turn off if its just a shiny repackaging. And both don't have a demo  .
