Any know some plugins that emulate/create the shittiness of the reverb effects in pre-2000s freeware "audio workstations"? Specifically, those stretchy reverbs that tended to create really awful ringing artifacts and pretty much erased any frequencies above a certain point (usually around 3k - 4k).
Not exactly what the reverb should sound like but something quite close to this:

You can achieve resonant reverb sounds from this: https://u-he.com/products/protoverb/
Use the random generator until you get the sound you want.

Reason probably still includes the original red half-rack reverb, RV-1?
Cakewalk by Bandlab probably includes the old Sonitus reverb, and the even earlier Project 5 era effects.
Finding bad vst reverbs should be really easy!

When i want some great f**ked up reverb i'm reaching for good ol' UberMod, though Supermassive isn't bad either
If bad in general: most old DAW's algorithmic reverbs should do. I can vouch for the Reaper and Cakewalk ones for being really bad (not in a cool way though)

The Renoise native one sounds pretty much like that.
Since you might not have that, maybe try this:

the old, unsupported v2 has become freeware
as a bunch of others

UA BYOME/TRIAD has a module ("Lo-Fi Reverb") with a bunch of old reverb algorithms

Renoise is great and all for shitty reverb but it always seems to sound bitcrushy for me at least.El°HYM wrote: Sat Feb 12, 2022 4:35 pm The Renoise native one sounds pretty much like that.

I always found the standard Reverb in Renoise pretty metallic sounding; yet, I dont really use that Software anymore, so my Memories might be a bit clouded.

The new one from Audio Thing lets you dial in the crappiness. It's dirt cheap on their site and ADSR right now, Hopefully PB will follow suit. They also have a new 8-Bit synth that is on sale for cheap as well.
If every KVR member wrote one review a year we'd have 1340 reviews each day!
