I've not been offered the WIN 11 upgrade yet, but Windows update says I can use it just when it's available.

Yet a friend has a laptop that's offering him the update now.

Only difference is his is an intel CPU mines AMD. Literally only difference.

Anyone else had the offer of the update yet in the UK ?

So:

That's a different motherboard, different graphics, different device drivers, different... literally, just the CPU?

just like win10, availability via windows update is staged to manage server capacity ( and also seems pretty random )

you're better off to just manually upgrade using the assistant : https://www.microsoft.com/software-download/windows11

There is zero reasons to update to Windows 11 unless you want to be a beta tester.

Don't you think that people can judge that for themselves?

Do you trust everyone to make the right choices ?

No. But, an opinion from someone on the internet, who moreover seems to be on a mission, isn't really helpful.

"There is zero reason to update to Windows 11 unless you want to be a beta tester."

Yeah, well, no, I already heard a lot about Windows 11 which indicates that it's not beta stage software.

Not that I don't think that Microsoft is on a good way, since Windows 10, to get into Linux like design patterns, with unfinished and buggy software, but, calling it a beta release is definitely putting it too harsh, especially as they have an Insider program, with what, like a couple of millions of users?

Again, though, LeVzi is an adult. He doesn't need any recommendations whether or not he should upgrade his OS. And it wasn't his original question either.

It's had a LOT of patches since it's release to suggest its way beyond the initial bugs. And it's showing performance improvements, but how they relate to a DAW is yet to be seen.

I am going to update to Win 11 but I either wait or do it the way that guy posted up.

I've never been able to update an OS without a clean install of the new one tbh, so I don't hold much hope for this.

Did they fix the AMD performance issues? That's the only thing that would give me cause for concern if I was on AMD.

Yeah that got patched quickly.

I've just done the upgrade, I got bored, and it's fine. Just checking everything works.

He should make a poll....

Is it more or less a GUI update?
