Thanks Aro.
After I have posted the "Sketch" post some creativity flew in and the track evolved and grew out of "nowhere". After the session I have uploaded the result ... it added the new melody line on top of the initial sketch. The sound is actually rather meh ... not close to trumpet or any brass sound which was my plan ... I wanted to get close to a loung trumpet line with big reverb

I had it compiled for linux, did a PR, but I haven't heard from them since.doom-o-matic wrote: Wed Feb 02, 2022 2:17 pm I wanted to join for the first time, but I can't get this to run on Linux (and I don't have nor want Win). The plugin is programmed badly, WINE can't start it properly and it has all sorts of audio and video glitches. Oh well, will try next month![]()

Many thanx, I’m more or less happy with it, took 3 bounces before it would go under True Peak, which I put down to oddnessYadrichik_Chaya wrote: Sun Feb 13, 2022 8:27 amSuch a great track - everything perfect! Well, today I gave in and did a little something with this thing. But, honestly, I have to just confirm again, this is most definitely among the worst free synths out there and I know quite a whole bunch of freebies by now. Still would have to dig up a few other candidates to be totally sure, but it's competing for the worst spot for virtually every reason, hahaha.
Anyway, I HAVE MY NEW MACHINE and it's phyiscally only about 2.5xthe size of the tiny miniPC, I think. It's totally quiet and a massive performance beast, kind of beating my big tower, but at literally less than a 10th of the prize ($500). I love it!
So, here's my first draft, kind of seeing, if I add a little more into it and onto it:

Taron, I love your track! Great stuff and what a wonderful synth Synister is. In the right hands. Yours, I mean.
I updated my track this evening. It's starting to become a bit more interesting now.

Oh bye the way guys.... I rendered the track at 96 Khz/24 bit and uploaded it like this. Soundcloud downsamples it automatically. Somehow it sounds better this way. Not every track but one with Synister I mean. You may want to try this too. Good luck you all with this #156 challenge!

Gorgeous!
... and THANK YOU!
I would've been scared what Synister does, when you go for higher rates, HAHAHA...thanks for testing it out! Will try it for sure!

Hm, "better"? Actually switching the project on my side caused the track to sound utterly different and missing the roughness which makes it lake it's unique esthetics in the end.The Sound Of Merlin wrote: Sat Feb 19, 2022 12:53 am Oh bye the way guys.... If you are going for a smoother sound, which is a daring thing to do with Synister, the idea of "oversampling" by means of a higher rate is totally perfect. I will try it, too. But the point that we make Synister sound like an acceptable synth is the only more complicated moral concern I'd have!] Peter:H [ wrote: Sat Feb 19, 2022 10:00 amHm, "better"? At the end, this synth's character is not only its totally crude, beginner level passing of samples to the audio, but all of its limitations that prevent one from designing sounds freely and there's nothing wrong with trying to stick around its (very few and narrow) sweet-spots instead, or to ignore them for effects only.
In short: I think it's GREAT advice!
But, Peter, you're making great use of Synister's nastiness!

WAHAHAHAHA!!!
Nope, it's terrible advice MUCH like I had anticipated! If I let MuLab render this at 96khz, Synister is so basic, it does not understand sampling rate and will essentially be pitched up!
So, that also explains why I had to tune every oscillator down by -1.47 cnt in order to be at A440, since I'm always working with 48khz.
So, yeah, nah, you kinda wonna either work directly at 96khz, if you can, make sure all your sounds are "tune-corrected" and then it may be fine. But don't compose and design at a different rate than you wish to render later on!!!
