Well, I was watching some of the Stepic Vids and it really seems like I could enjoy that workflow. I haven't had any time to try to compare what I see in the vids with SEQ32.... Though, I have a funny feeling this Stepic may be joining the stable.
Here is a link to the DeviceMaster YouTube channel to check out the other vids on Stepic.

Bought stepic - doesn't show as AU or VST3 for me in ableton 11.1 (mac m1 native) unless I run ableton in "rosetta mode".
Not good for a 2022 product launch, especially as the website is really vague with: "System requirements: Microsoft Windows or Apple macOS." and no demo.
That said, I like what it does - it has a different workflow to hy-seq32 with the easy way to do different seq lengths for octave and duration/gate and having the 8 CC lanes on one page.

Thanks god for Bitwig in that regard, those Ableton issues feel so last century these days...
I was helping a bit with betatesting Stepic (Windows & Bitwig) and enjoyed it a lot. Devicemeister was really responsive to ideas and improvements so if you have things on your mind, I can recommend joining the discord.
Cheers,
Tom

Blaming ableton sounds like you know for sure that bitwig mac can run both m1 native plugins AND rosetta plugins in the same DAW instance - is that the case?ThomasHelzle wrote: Sun Feb 13, 2022 10:29 pm Thanks god for Bitwig in that regard, those Ableton issues feel so last century these days...
added: just tried in logic, running m1 native by default, and whilst it loads as a midfx in that, activity monitor shows it is running in a rosetta wrapper.

That is the info I have, yes.OneOfManyPauls wrote: Sun Feb 13, 2022 10:34 pmBlaming ableton sounds like you know for sure that bitwig mac can run both m1 native plugins AND rosetta plugins in the same DAW instance - is that the case?ThomasHelzle wrote: Sun Feb 13, 2022 10:29 pm Thanks god for Bitwig in that regard, those Ableton issues feel so last century these days...

Through the Bitwig sandboxing, you can run 32/64 bit plugins transparently as well as m1/rosetta.
Doesn't run AUs though, only VSTs (2.4 and 3) and hopefully soon .clap plugins.
But I do not use apple hardware myself thankfully, so you would have to try the Bitwig demo yourself.
Cheers,
Tom
P.S. also does plugin scanning in the background _after_ launch, multiple VST paths, a crashing plugin doesn't crash the DAW, can have as many midi plugins as you like at any position in any order on a track, has the best modulation system in any daw, all factory devices support MPE fully, the modular grid is an integral part of the DAW and not a soldered on separate app.... I spare you the other 10 pages of why it's awesome

Thanks Tom - I'll have to take another look at bitwig as running native and rosetta VSTs alongside each other would be very useful for me as quite a few midi fx aren't available to me native in ableton other than as AUs (which are autowrapped in rosetta) and AUs don't output midi notes so useless for midi fx.

Any suggestions for a rhythm generator with lots of presets? Like Scaler's rhythm mode but focused on rhythms only? Seems like there's tons of Eurorack versions of this and not many vsts. I just want an arpeggiator with lots of different rhythm presets w/ holds and slides and ratchets etc. There are some but they're very old and kinda gross (ie sugar bytes)
basically wanna make a rave stab and scroll through various rhythms. Scaler works for this but it's a little slow to use in this way.

To be clear are you asking about imposing rhythms on melodic material rather than percussive, on a held chord for example?Zoopy wrote: Mon Feb 14, 2022 7:15 pm Any suggestions for a rhythm generator with lots of presets? If so then Captain Chords has a load of preset rhythms and a fast workflow that you can make work with Scaler (though no direct drag and drop unfortunately). Not only do you get to choose rhythms you then get to impose different emphasis in the timing of the note divisions e.g. to push notes early or late in each bar and some really handy controls that let you decrease each note's gate to highlight space between notes.

Maybe Venomode Phrasebox? You send chords and make rhythms with it (its effect).Zoopy wrote: Mon Feb 14, 2022 7:15 pm Any suggestions for a rhythm generator with lots of presets? Maybe uChord which looks like simplified Scaler? (p.s. That one not tested on my end so far)

Question if anyone got Uchord already which is on sale right now: I was wondering about this (from their FAQ):
"You can install the plugin on up to two systems at the same time using the same registration on windows. and You can transfer the plugin to a new computer after deactivating the old one. "
What if system crash like it happened to me when I lost all my Ilok licenses, how to deactivate if I cant boot the same system again? I had problems of that kind with Audiomodern Riffer too so had to write their support on several occasions so they can reset my activations (activations was lost after each system update) so I see that they finally allow users to reset themselves from their user accounts which is now great.
My question or concern is how Ultimate Midi Plugin (the company of the Uchord) handle this? Can user reset their "machines"?
Second one I was wondering about, from the video I see its great for simple chord progressions and rhythms but what if I want first chord 3 beats (not 4) then second one right after it which will last until 3rd bar etc... Not 4 bars 4 chords like in the video. I was thinking maybe its possible with midi notes triggers only (and not by dragging midi) but then how the rhythm will translate... I guess manual work is necessary for something less basic like that...
No need to answer this one unless somebody already tried to be creative with it then please share your experience, thinking of getting it.

The beta of Bitwig 4.2 is out with the long awaited Midi Grid, so finally we can fully use the modular environment for Midi without workarounds!
It of course supports MPE natively and all the other goodies of the Grid.
Here is the release page:
https://www.bitwig.com/whats-new/
Scroll down a bit - they somehow got the order wrong so the audio effects are on top
This also made me finally decide to sell my license of Loomer Architect...
Cheers,
Tom
