Just some thoughts...
Talents are abilities we have at our disposal right now. They may be innate or acquired but we can use them right now. Abilities we can get one day (in future) aren't our talents yet.
Talents are a result of our past work. Or a result of our work during 'previous lives'. I don't believe in reincarnations, it's possible, but I'm sure we don't know how the world really works. But as a construction for the sake of explanation the idea of reincarnations is absolutely valid. All we have is the result of our previous work. During this life or our 'previous lives'. Or even a result of a work of somebody else (for example, your anсestors). A result of somebody's work in the past.
Talents are like money. We have it or don't. We have a lot of it or a little. It's not just an analogy or my fantasy. Initially (in the Antiquity) the word 'talent' meant a sort of coin. So we may spend our money or talents reasonably, waste them both, give them away or hide them and even forget about them. Usually we can get more money but then we must make some work (may be hard work). Our way to a goal will be a bit longer. And right now we can't spend more money than we have. Even if we can get it on credit. If somebody (a human, a bank) is ready to give us a credit it's the result of our past 'credits' (merits). We gained somebody' confidence or didn't destroy it.
Talents aren't hard work. Talents are a result of it. Very important difference. Talents (like money) make some tasks (relatively) easier for people who are talented.

No. You are wrong. Talent is something innate, skills are things you learn, things you acquire from hard work. I was once a reasonably skillful keyboard player, despite having very little talent. My bandmate is way more skillful than I ever was and he never practises. For him it comes naturally, because he is more talented in that area than I am. In the end, I would have to work very hard to get to the level he is at with no effort because he's talented and I'm not. If he practised as hard as I did, he would always be better than me, again because he is more talented. OTOH, I am a more talented singer than he is and he would have to work hard to get to the level I've achieved with very little effort. That's just how things work.

Everybody can learn to sing, no talent needed.
The vocal tone however? That's something you're born with and you can only modify so far using technique/lifestyle/training.
Everyone has different tastes when it comes to vocal tones which is due to exposure (and maybe also evolutionary?), so there probably is a niche for every vocal tone.
So no talent needed and hard work beats talent where talent sleeps anyway.

So, it obviously takes no talent or hard work for a pointless necro.marcelino wrote: Thu Dec 07, 2023 3:30 pm Everybody can learn to sing, no talent needed.

methinks talent cannot be gained through hard work
like the talent to see sound
jimi hendrix saw sound
lsd gives you temporary talent?
perfect pitch is another talent
photographic memory too
and although x-men is just comics/movies...
who knows what mutants populate the real world

Just take a look at someone who has a really logical mind.
He can work with numbers without any problems. He can solve the most complicated mathematical problems with all his education from school or where ever he has got it from.
Another one has the same education but can't do the same things, not by fare, even if he would like to.
Or let's say, he can do the same things, but needs so much more effort to do so and for him, it's a real fight to do so, may be like someone who has been forced to learn piano, having lessons against his will and really works hard for each note to sound right. Another one makes it with a smile on his face and did just half the lessons he was told to do.
No tell me, the answer, if talent is something you are born with or not.

Talent is.nothing more than total recall from the memory base. How it was recorded by the senses determines whether the recall will be prisrine in which the physical action is done with seeming effortlessness.
So if a child records an image on TV of a basketball game while their irritable becauae IE their hungry, the recall later on in life of playing basketball will not be total so they'll need to exert more effort which will be even more difficult if they have no love for the game.
So now that everybody understands what talent is, y'all can shaddap.

It's implemented by the subconscious utilizing memories. For the recall to be at a level of "talent" the recording should be done when the human system is at a relaxed level *or* at a super hyper level IE during trauma or sexual excitement.
During trauma, hidden human capabilities like Photographic Memory may get activated as a survival trait. Same with levels of Bi-polarism.
It all depends on the severity of the trauma. Ancient Vikings had the highest level of being Bi Polar for obvious reasons.
A Viking "picnic" consisted of two sides charging each other with swords. Whatever one slaughtered became well done steak patties for the family.
