Sudden loss of DAW envy

It doesn't matter if they were parodies or not or who started them, they are simply pointless threads that at best belong in the "Everything Else (Music Related)" sub-forum.
It would be better if people would just stop making such pointless threads or put them in the proper sub-forum and that's not just for the DAW forum.
So "How do you modulate the cutoff in Synth A" belongs in the instrument forum. "What's Better, Synth A or Synth B or Synth C" belongs in the Everything Else forum for those who wish to engage in such pointless discussions.
Of course that's just my opinion but I find all these geek threads like the 7 in the DAW forum shown in the screenshot above to be an embarrassment to KVR. Again just my opinion as a 20+ year member.
Sure we can just ignore the threads but when there are so many it's harder to wade through all the fluff and blubber to find something of actual value.

Not sure about that. I see stuff like that more and more. And, our world is full of influencers, which distribute to people thinking like that.
If you take a look at our societies in general, there's lots of that thinking, unfortunately. You can't live a happy life not knowing what you're after. People need to focus on their inner self, not to narcissistic pricks out there which tell them what they want and need.
Even more unfortunate that you even have to say that...

It’s funny, I rather see occasional pointless participation over a rush to interpret everything as doom and gloom.
That’s just my take.

It may not be apparent from single examples. But, if you think about the mentality behind it, oh my...
I snip with my fingers, and you obey. I could be the biggest fool in the world, but, you'd still obey. No way, that can't be it really.
Anyway, maybe this leads too far indeed. This thread is kind of harmeless, compared to requests like "What is the most popular soft synth these days, so that I can use what is popular, to be popular". I know, noone would ask it like that, but, that's basically what is asked.

I remember the first time I met my DAW. I was young, naive and DAW had clearly been around the block a few times. It looked professional but with a playful, colorful side that showed itself in bold color choices. At first I was overwhelmed, not knowing where to begin. Would it laugh at my clumsiness? Would it know this was my first time and lose interest, not wanting to waste it's time on an inexperienced musician fresh off the bus? Thankfully all my worries were for naught. My DAW was kind, patient and more than willing to guide this nubile young virgin in his quest to make 8 bar loops and start threads like 'if your DAW was on an Olympic team, which country would it represent'
and that's why I still use Orion

For me, there was no question in the beginning. I saw that fancy Cubase for Atari package in my brother's room, and the package design was so nice that it was clear where I should go.
I use Studio One now. Go figure.

Sorry, I'll try to make the irony more obvious in the future.jens wrote: Tue Feb 15, 2022 6:46 am I'm with Teksonik here.
If you look up "irrelevance" in an online dictionary, there's a link to this thread together with a full quote of the OP.
Seriously: WTF???

completely agree - the sub forum becomes unnecessarily difficult to use for what it is designed for. The Everything Else forum is an ideal place for joke threads -particularly when the joke starts getting really old. I wonder why the content is being moderated into the appropriate sub-forum - maybe it is a commercial decision.Teksonik wrote: Tue Feb 15, 2022 12:43 pm

No amount of irony could make this thread and your OP any more relevant or funny. It's basically just more of the same old tiring nothing about nothing...jonljacobi wrote: Tue Feb 15, 2022 6:07 pm Sorry, I'll try to make the irony more obvious in the future.

Back in the day, lots and lots of OT banter was always a major ingredient of what made KVR what it is... but it was mostly humours, intelligent and often insightful banter. Now it's like "wait a minute, I think I have something resembling a thought... no, nothing - I was mistaken..... ah, what the heck, I'll start a thread anyway, I'll just post the next bollocks I don't think of...
