I don't get any tempo problems. Load the Live file, load the Reason file. Press play. Simple.
I'm using Live 3,does Live 4 remember Reason's tempo for that song when you rewire them back up?
I mean if Abelton is set at 100bpm and I load Reason up with 140bpm,,Abelton doesn't change to 140bpm..
I believe it will always keep the time of whatever is the rewire master, so I think Live will always dictate the tempo.
Thats why I say it would have been nice if they added the ability to save the file as a rewire project,,remembering the slave apps and their settings.
Oh well maybe thats next...

Thanks to everyone for the responses!

Ableton wasnt even on my look-list, but after so much positive feedback, I'm gonna check it out...

Thats not how rewire works. One is the master, one is the slave. Thats the technology. Just set the tempo inside Live, whats the problem with that?? :?

I set up Abelton as a mastering and effects template for live tracking of different instruments,,so I don't have to keep adding the same vst's over and over ,so,,,the Reason slave track on 1,,my favorite amp sim on 2,,a reverb on 3,,a compression and chorus plug on 4,etc. etc. with a mastering plug on the master track.
And yes,,set the tempo in Live to the bpm I want the Reason backtrack to run.The Reason file keeps its original tempo saved,,but will change if I don't save an Abelton file to go with it.
Now,,nothing comes to me that day and I don't record a track,,but I still have to save the Abelton file with the name of the Reason file so I don't get them mixed up,,all this just to keep the original tempo of the Reason file.
So what I end up with is a dozen of these template files with nothing in them that are identical except for the tempo.
I'm just saying that it would be nice to be able to instruct Abelton to respond to the slaves tempo if you wanted,,that way naming one master template would always be ready for recording with any slave file I give it..
What I've started doing is putting the tempo in the name of the Reason file,,but if I forget to, you gotta open Reason get the tempo and then close it before you can open Live..
