Roland doesn't want to support sysex for financial reasons. If users can load sysex files they will be less inclined to purchase sounds from them.
It's pretty selfish, yet they are in the business to sell you shit, not make your life easier.

Bottom line, that's true of virtually every company that sells us things, forever in history. That said, Roland could charge for the feature if they really were worried about losing revenue just because we could import Sysex. There's always money to be made, IMHO.trusampler wrote: Wed Feb 16, 2022 3:53 pm It's pretty selfish, yet they are in the business to sell you shit, not make your life easier.

I think it may be more involved than one might think, at least when it comes to the Zenology stuff.
Brian also said that he passed that request on. We will have to wait and see what they come up with. These things do take time.

If it's based on Zenology then it's not a 'faithful recreation of an old classic'. It's just a collection of bitmaps and a set of presets that were tweaked to sound similar to the old stock sounds. If it's an exact emulation then sysex import should be very easy. We are talking about digital synths after all.
Don't get me wrong, The end result doesn't have to sound bad at all. Just the opposite. I really like the Zencore sound and I'm pretty sure that it is based on the old hardware synths. But if a new plugin just a sound pack with custom skin then 149 $/€ is a bit much.

Zenology is not your typical plugin. In a way, it reminds me of Reaktor. View it as a structure or a bed. It is not just slapping on new presets and skin to make different sounds.
Some have stated that the sounds are not 1:1 which might explain the issue of importing sysex files. I think the sounds are so close that it does not matter, at least not to me. They are closer than Arturia (and I think Arturia does a great job...I try not to think of their synths as emulations, as much just good sounding products).

Nice vid on the use of the MC-4WatchTheGuitar wrote: Thu Feb 10, 2022 1:45 pmThe point is more that MIDI isn’t generally as consistent for hardware sequencing as audio based triggering. I just built a modular system that can pass audio straight through the DAW to a module so handy for emulating hardware sequencing especially when they go wonky.ChamomileShark wrote: Thu Feb 10, 2022 1:36 pmSure you are aware that you can use something like a Kenton MIDI/CV box to do this. It has an option to toggle between 5V and 10V trigger..I think old Roland stuff was 10v and most other stuff is 5v (or is that the other way around?)WatchTheGuitar wrote: Thu Feb 10, 2022 12:40 pm emulating their old hardware sequencers to output MIDI or audio that could be passed through as hardware triggers e.g. CSQ-600, System 100’s 104 module
If you have a spare Roland SH101 that can sequence other Roland gear, modulars etc..I think the sequencer is similar to the CSQ600 (I have the CSQ100)

I think it only will show options relative to the width of your display. Did you try clicking Options/Zoom, then press Ctrl and use the mouse wheel?
Also is that v1.09? That's what I have here.

The only thing you can't add as a lifetime key is the Zenology Products and HW Addons which i find weird since they are a part of the Cloud too.

Thanks D-Fusion. That’swhat I thought originally, too, but the D50 isn’t selectable as a lifetime key (along with the 808) as they’re pre-selected for pro-access. Which means it would be impossible to have it selected when the subscription offer ends.
