Thanks progtronic. Yes, I did all you suggested before posting here: refresh, restart, reboot pc, re-installed Cosmos. No luck. I then made another folder with 125 wav-files and one pdf-file. I then scanned with Cosmos and only registered 123 files, so one wav-file was missing (and the pdf of course). Even weirder, of the 123 files registered, all but one disappeared after selecting another folder in Cosmos browser. Like progtronic suggested, Cosmos might get problems from non-wav files, too many files and/or maybe even wav-files. Or other bugs. Back to ADSR Sample Manager.

I don't really see much reason to grab this over Iris 2 which has more features and always gets the root auto-detect right on the first try.
Yeah, CR8 immediately reminded me of Iris2 as well. I mean, they're not exact competitors but they do overlap a lot. So, I guess someone finally created something similar to Iris2!

Umm... I don't see a way to browse sub-folders. Am I missing something? That's an immediate no go for me.

Short review of sampler, seems like fun and has loads of potential despite having a few others but it is literally the first plug-in that makes my M1 uncomfortably warm on the lap, despite its alleged processor usage being relatively low (although I’ve learnt not to trust what ableton ever says about this given it sticks at 30% regardless of the number of knifonium instances I’m using)

If only Splice jumped on that bandwagon. So much sucks about their app and their search engine. Just buy XLN with all that investor money and include XO into Splice already.

CR8 looks pretty interesting!

Cosmos seems to work pretty well with key and tempo detection etc and its free....so that will be a touch market!

It's free so no grumbles... but RX2 support would of been nice ;-)

Create your own RX2 support and convert them in a batch…

As I wrote previously in this thread, I haven't used any sample managers before, so I don't have anything else to compare it to, but I've been using Cosmos since last night and it's working pretty well for me.

I scanned about 70,000 samples yesterday and Cosmos now opens quickly and works smoothly.

My samples collection is pretty messy and I have folders spread out through multiple drives. Being able to bring them all together and see and audition all of those samples and sort them in different ways is pretty cool and useful.

Cosmos might just be one of the best and most useful free plugins I've ever gotten.

I was actually considering buying a sample manager recently (I was looking into XO for example), since there have been a few sales, but I guess that Waves came along and they decided for me that I shouldn't spend any money.

9 Dollars. Nice.
Upgrading my WUP, 70 Dollars. No thanks.

Just judging by the video this seems like another example of a company confusing Samples with Loops.
Technically all Loops are Samples but not all Samples are Loops.....even if they contain loop points.

This seems like more of a tool to play loops than to create serious sampled instruments like say Kontakt.

So for that purpose $10 seems fair if you don't mind doing business with Waves.

i don't think anyone is claiming it's another kontakt - it's far more like Ableton's simpler or mimic in Reason, which i think have already been mentioned.

What's a serious sampled instrument?

A 400 GB Orchestra multisampled in Kontakt?

The Waves sampler is not Kontakt and that's a good thing. I have the full Kontakt. This is totally different than Kontakt and its for a different use.

A snare sample does not constitute a "sampler" in my book but it it does for you then you're all set. Go for it...... :tu:

Multi-samples with key ranges, velocity switching etc etc. Doesn't have to be 400 gigs but it's got to be more than 8 samples.

I'm just giving my definition of a Sampler as opposed to Loop Player. Like I said above if this is the tool you're looking for then by all means pay your $10 and have fun..... :tu:
