From what I can tell I think the legacy downloads for these are all registered when you download from the site.

Huh?

Oh, I get it. For the "legacy" plugins, there are key files in the ZIP file again.

IIRC, last time, that was a mistake from him. Maybe, this time, it's for real. I can't imagine that he makes the same dumb mistake two times.

Wished that he would just write a short note though. "Legacy plugins now free", or something like that.

Edit: Found this on his support pages:
The TrackEssentials and BusTools (v3) plug-ins are enjoying their well-deserved retirement after being in service for over a decade. In case you need to re-install these plug-ins, you can use the links below:
BusTools and TrackEssentials v3 installer v1.6.0 for Microsoft Windows 7 or up (64 bits)
BusTools and TrackEssentials v3 installer v1.6.0 for Apple macOS 10.10 or up (64 bits)
BusTools v3 installation and user manual
TrackEssentials v3 installation and user manual
I just sent him an email asking whether the legacy plugins are free to use now.

Hoping it was meant to be on purpose this time

Somewhat semi-related, but I was trialing Mixcraft the other day and found most of the "legacy" TB stuff in there. So it could be that TB has some deal going on with Acoustica and the downloads are only provided for license holders. YMMV.

I found that even the trial versions of the current plugin range have pretty generous trial conditions last time I checked (6 months ago or so). That includes full recall of the plugin settings once the DAW session is closed and opened again.

Now I'm curious whether the legacy range is set free on purpose or by mistake?

I too am curious about this - there are some interesting tools here and if it is freeware now I would love to put a note about it on an upcoming revamp of my blog's free VSTs section, along with Audio Damage as they recently made legacy products freeware too. Well, I say "too," if this is an accident then obviously I won't be doing that but how to find out? If one of you who has contacted the brand about this would share your findings when they get back to you, I would be grateful.

No reply from Toneboosters...

I'm pretty positive that it's no accident.

Not just interesting tools. Sibalance 3 is still contender for the best de-esser and hasn't been replaced. Flx 3 is easily one of the best everyday EQs ever made, and if it had been updated to allow window resizing, it would still be my main EQ.

I hope v3 doesn't stop receiving OS updates. In fact, I'd be happy to pay an update fee for a v3.5 to have these things remain current and be made resizable. I understand the developer has moved on to a new plugin platform with more modern looking plugins, but I think it's wasteful to dump good plugins for being slightly old when they are not broken and in some ways still better.

Try the de-esser in Evoke - I compared the two, and while they could very well be the same plugin - though they have different parameters/functions to work with, I got just a tad better result with Evoke.

Yes, those two legacy bundles were just too good and too cheap; just upgrading to V4 of the e.q., Barricade (worth it, though), ReelBus, compressor, and the reverb cost more than both those bundles combined - it's easy to see why he would do what he's doing. Buying the V4s of what was in the two legacy bundles now costs $170, way, way more than the pittance of the two bundles that actually contained more, and as a few have said, some being superior versions of the V4s. And I get it that they have completely new engines and are built from the ground up (according to the maker), so there's that, as well.

Legacy (v3) plug-in installer (64 bits)
Legacy v3 plugins are no longer available for sale but instead are available as freeware.

I downloaded them for windows and they are all registered.

Yay!

Thanks TB. ;)

Absolutely amazing freebies. This plus the Damage Audio stuff make for an incredible starter kit for all producers.

Perhaps the thread title could be changed so everyone knows they’ve been made freeware.

Great! Ideal for beginners on a low budget. They are still pro quality. :)
