199$ but right now discounted to 49$
199$ seems totally overpriced and 49$ still seems pricey, for what it is, deals are plenty
For example I bought the McDSP EC-300 suite for 40$ recently
Most DAWs is equipped with some decent delays also default today
I guess for the list price, and partly the discounted, something unique needs to offered
But whats truely unique, outstanding, and justifying the price of X-Echo ?

I had that dillema. I was considering x-echo along with two others on sale, benefiting from the SSL 3-for-2 deal on top of the sale discount (lowest priced product free). I demoed it. I think its worth it - the way the 4 tape heads are visualized and manipulated is pretty cool. it has a cool sound. i mean its not too far removed from other tape delays but it has it's own vibe. But the selling point for me is the diffusion - that and long feedback on long delay times is really nice. After buying all 3 the average price was $25 each so that was fine with me for x-echo. heck i could see paying $50 especailly if i had GAS.

I think the SSL plugin range are excellent, I’ve got the entire range from sales now. I could easily use just these going forward, GAS won’t allow me that though, lol!

I've been keeping an eye out for a sale on X-Echo, X-Valve Comp, and X-EQ, but I think I'm going to pass on all of them for now, except possibly XVC for $20. I also like the SSL range, but my GAS for software has subsided a lot and I already have far more delays, comps, and EQs than I actually use. If X-Echo had been on sale for $30, that probably would've sealed the deal for me, though.

Yes, it is quite unique and has a great underlying sound. Not quite as CPU-friendly as their other plugins, mind...

I was waiting for it 'to sale' as well, and then it did, so I jumped on it. Same appeal as plezuss; diffusion and nice long delay times.. sounds great.
EXCEPT, the gui doesn't work properly; no fancy tape being written to on mine. I opened a ticket but I don't think they know what do to. My system is within the defined spec.

I am finding CPU pretty high too especially on new M1 MacBook Pro. I have noticed most of this CPU seems to be dependant on where the diffusion knob is situated. Looks like it could be optimised a lot more to me.MogwaiBoy wrote: Thu Feb 17, 2022 7:12 am Yes, it is quite unique and has a great underlying sound. X-Echo looks interesting to me but there are so many Delays out there so I miss the unique selling point for $49.
It's also interesting how fast the price degressed from $199 last year to $49.
I will wait to buy and keep it on my list for a $29 deal.
