Sample Mangling Recommendations?

Hi Everyone,
I am thinking about getting into some field recording stuff. What would be some of your recommendations for mangling those samples? I'm thinking of VSTs like EchoMelt, Iris, RC-20, but I'm sure there are many others I am forgetting or don't know about.
Thanks!

These would be top of my list:
Glitchmachines - Polygon 2.0 & Palindrome
Devious Machines Texture
Do you have access to Kontakt? Some good ones there like ReKombinator I & II.

The audio editing functions of your DAW.
Byome.
HalfTime.
ÜberMod.
ValhallaDelay has some nice "out there" modes too.

OP - what DAW(s) do you use and what are its sample tweaking capabilities?
My main DAW is Ableton Live, which has myriad options for sample manipulation just within an audio clip (multiple Warp timestretch modes, reverse, speed, and per-clip automation of many of those parameters), plus further tweaking/slicing within Simpler if desired. Resampling the realtime output to another audio track lets you capture the result, lather, rinse, and repeat. I get a lot of mileage from this workflow alone before FX are applied.

Thanks for the ideas. I will primarily be using these samples in Reaper.Winstontaneous wrote: Fri Feb 18, 2022 9:32 pm OP - what DAW(s) do you use and what are its sample tweaking capabilities?

TAL Sampler is usually my first stop for sample stuff, and often my last.
But it really depends what you have in mind exactly. Samples are just audio files, after all, so pretty much anything can be done to them / with them.

It's been a while since I used Reaper regularly, but you can do many of the same things with Media Item Properties (like reverse and pitch change) and Item FX. And it's really easy to resample in Reaper by setting one track (or more) to receive from all channels, or post-Master.bharris22 wrote: Fri Feb 18, 2022 9:34 pmThanks for the ideas. Anything granular is good. Permut8 is an often overlooked mangler.
