I know.
But that's the only way i can afford a prophet 10.
I was thinking that for my needs, perhaps going for the nord stage 3 was overkill. To have something i can jam on (piano playing) from time to time and also use as a controller.
For that i could - in the future - get something relatively cheap like the new Numa X piano

Well, let me put it this way. I'm turning 46 next week. Playing music and programing synths have been with me for more than 30 years.
I love playing and i love tweaking synths and doing some sound design.
I'm not a working musician. I'm a school teacher and this is my hobby, my passion.
From this perspective i don't have any "job" to "get done" in the studio so i don't look at my purchases in terms of what it will contribute to the recording or writing process.
I've reached a stage in life where i can finally finance - at least to some degree - some of my early synth fantasies.
I'm also currently not a gigging musician but i do like to have the option of just powering up a keyboard and play piano/electric piano/clav etc - without relying on a computer running Keyscape or something (as much as i adore keyscape).
So from this perspective, i was thinking perhaps the Nord Stage 3 is really overkill and i could do without a 73/88 keyboard for a few months or even a year - as a price to pay for getting the Prophet 10, and later on save enough for something way cheaper, such as the numa x piano.

I'm playing the Matriarch right now, experimenting, problem solving, trying to figure out what this cv does to that and so on - and it's fun and satisfying as it is even if it's not going anywhere in terms of "production" or "getting things done".
So having the Matriarch, the Super 6, the Behringer 2600 and then the Prophet 10 rev 4 seems to me like a dream come true combination - while still keeping most of my plugins and libraries (i'll still have komplete ultimate with reaktor, massive x, kontakt with lots of libraries, avenger, etc).

Only speaking from experience,but once I got my hands on my P10. Most other synths have become redundant,or yet not as important as they once we're.Meaning the raw tones and organic sounds from the Prophet, made me forget about even reaching for them. I own so much software, yet I hardly reach for any of it now, synth wise.
The P5/10 is a great controller as well. Dedicated big knobs that feel amazing to reach for. The keybed is one of the best I've played,not too soft,yet not too stiff, it feels just right for synths. Good luck with your decision, if you've always wanted a Prophet, you will be pleased daily each time you play it, it's just on another level.

There you go. Simplify your life: sell everything and just play the P10. You can probably spend the rest of your life mastering it.

The P5/10 is a great controller as well.

I understand that as a conrroller per se it's a bit problematic for a number of reasons:

1. No octave up/down switches

2. The knobs transmit only values of 0 - 120, instead of 0- 127.

3. Personally, my ideal controller should be at least 73 keya if not 88.
That's a personal preference which i'm going to do without, for a few months or even a year until i get something like that numa x piano or whatever

Been figuring out what else i need to sell (besides the nord stage) to get the extra $1300 for the Prophet 10, and now i'm beginning to have some second thoughts about my Behringer 2600.
I mean, at first i was looking at my software, and decided to try and sell stuff like Omnisphere, Uvi Falcon, Uhe Diva just to name a few.
But i'm not sure that will be enough and not sure how i feel about how much i lose compared to how much i bought them for.
The Behringer 2600 is brilliant but perhaps in a context of having Matriarch, Udo Super 6 and Prophet 10 - having the B2600 might be overkill? Worth letting go for a "cause" of getting the P10?
