Has anyone downgraded from Monterey to Big Sur without an issue? I installed Monterey a couple days ago and am having compatibility issues with some plugins and other programs. I didn't plan to update but liked Monterey that came with my wife's new iMac, so I updated...

The only way is to get back with your time machine… That isn’t a downgrade in the official sense… And don’t forget, never change a winning team…

New to Mac and personally happy with Monterey, but can't you just download the latest Big Sur from the App Store and do a fresh system install?
If it's indeed not possible to get older OSes, maybe it would be a good idea for me to get a clean Monterey backup NOW?

Yes that is possible, but you have to setup all and might loose some authorizations etc. You should have a time machine backup. If not you learned it the hard way… Time machine backups are a no brainer and will get you back easily if something failed. The third option is to wait until the non working plugins are updated…

IIRC, one must have kept (saved on one of your ext disk(s)) the previous installer (Big Sur in that case) since it won't be available anymore on the App Store.FapFilter wrote: Wed Feb 23, 2022 11:51 am New to Mac and personally happy with Monterey, but can't you just download the latest Big Sur from the App Store and do a fresh system install?
At least, it's the way I'm doing it so far.

yes, but i thought i'd wait until the final Monterey has arrived, whatever that might be. Let's just say 12.5 as i thought they still made security updates for Big Sur after the arrival of Monterey, but as i'm new i'm absolutely not sure about that
